An external lock apparatus for a gun includes a gun receptacle. The gun receptacle is configured to receive a portion of the gun. An external lock is configured to engage with the portion of the gun when the gun is inserted into the gun receptacle. The external lock has on OPEN position and a LOCKED position. The external lock further includes an interference member. The interference member is configured to engage with the gun such that the gun cannot be removed from the gun receptacle and the gun cannot fire when the portion of the gun is received within the gun receptacle and the external lock is in the LOCKED position. In the alternative, the gun cannot be fired but can be removed from the gun receptacle if the portion of the gun is received within the gun receptacle and external lock is in the OPEN position.

A gun rack includes a gun butt support having upstanding sidewalls vertically extending and sized to receive a butt of a gun therebetween. An elongated rod is coupled to the gun butt support and extends vertically therefrom. A barrel support bracket includes a bracket base and extensions horizontally extending from the bracket base forming a U-shaped receptacle sized to receive a barrel of the gun. The barrel support bracket is coupled to a top end of the elongated rod.

A gun rack includes a gun butt support having upstanding sidewalls vertically extending and sized to receive a butt of a gun therebetween. An elongated rod is coupled to the gun butt support and extends vertically therefrom. A barrel support bracket includes a bracket base and extensions horizontally extending from the bracket base forming a U-shaped receptacle sized to receive a barrel of the gun. The barrel support bracket is coupled to a top end of the elongated rod.

A utility bar configured to be secured to a pair of stake pockets formed in opposing sidewalls of a bed of a vehicle. Each of the stake pockets includes an opening formed in an upper wall of the sidewall, a first aperture that is not accessible from the bed, and a second aperture that is accessible from the bed. The utility bar includes a tubular member, a pair of end fittings attached to the tubular member, and a pair of lock assemblies positioned in the stake pockets that mate with the end fittings, wherein the lock assemblies each include a locking mechanism configured to secure the lock assembly and the end fitting to the first aperture that is not accessible from the bed.

A long gun carrier rests on a vehicle seat, and is secured to the seat by a seat belt. An upper, sloping surface of the long gun carrier slopes generally downward and forward. One or more gun-holding channels formed in this sloping surface each hold a long gun pointed generally forward and downward, toward the vehicle floor. The long guns may be secured in the gun-holding channels by straps. Long guns are conveniently placed into and extracted from the long gun carrier, held securely during transportation, pointed in a safe direction, and not readily visible from the exterior.

A long gun carrier rests on a vehicle seat, and is secured to the seat by a seat belt. An upper, sloping surface of the long gun carrier slopes generally downward and forward. One or more gun-holding channels formed in this sloping surface each hold a long gun pointed generally forward and downward, toward the vehicle floor. The long guns may be secured in the gun-holding channels by straps. The external portion has a central section between sleeves that define openings sized to surround portions of the bungee. The hold translates from a first position in which the retainers squeeze the bungee against a channel surface to a second position in which the retainers are separated from the bungee. In the first position, the bungee is bound to the openings and to the housing such that an intra-mechanism force pulls the hold against the housing.
