Vehicle interior component having a cover layer in contact with a foam layer
A vehicle interior component includes a foam layer having a contact surface. The vehicle interior component also includes a cover layer having a contact surface and a show surface. The show surface is configured to face an interior of a vehicle, the contact surface of the cover layer is positioned on an opposite side of the cover layer from the show surface, and the contact surface of the cover layer is in direct contact with the contact surface of the foam layer. In addition, multiple recesses are formed within at least one of the contact surface of the foam layer and the contact surface of the cover layer, each recess establishes a gap between the contact surface of the foam layer and the contact surface of the cover layer at the recess, and the recesses are configured to accommodate gas emitted by the foam layer and/or the cover layer.
Vehicle trim element comprising a deformable part for delimiting a functional space
The vehicle trim element includes a body defining the outer surface of the trim element, said outer surface including at least one main area and at least one secondary area, the body including at least one deformable part forming a flap movable in the secondary area between a first stable position, in which said flap extends substantially in the continuation of the main area, and at least one second stable position, in which the flap forms a non-zero angle with the main area so as to extend protruding from said main area. In the second position, the flap forms a wall on one side of which a functional space extends opposite the secondary area.
Reinforcing trim panel for vehicle interior
A vehicle interior assembly includes a motor vehicle dashboard, a motor vehicle center console spaced apart from the dashboard, and a reinforcing trim panel formed separately from the dashboard and the center console. The reinforcing trim panel is attached to both the dashboard and the center console so as to anchor the center console to the dashboard.
VEHICLE TRIM COMPONENT
A vehicle interior/trim component configured to support an airbag module is disclosed. The component may comprise a structural substrate with a reinforcement to provide a door/opening for airbag deployment. The reinforcement may comprise a pattern of threads (e.g. top stitch to secure the door and bottom stitch). The reinforcement may comprise threads sewn within and/or pressed into a surface of a substrate/panel. The top stitch thread weight may be greater than that of the bottom stitch. The top stitch may comprise a retaining thread/hinge; the bottom stitch may separate upon deployment. The reinforcement may comprise KEVLAR, aramid, nylon, polyester, thread, ceramic fibers, polymeric fibers, synthetic fibers, etc. The structural substrate may comprise a fiber panel, compression-formed component, generally rigid fiber mat, etc. The component may be formed by injecting resin into a mold to form an ancillary component of a composite structure.
Interior member for vehicle
An interior member for a vehicle includes: a base material formed of a resin; a front surface portion configured to constitute a portion of a design surface in a vehicle cabin and cover a surface of the base material that is on the design surface side; and a conductive portion integrally provided with the base material in a state where a portion of the conductive portion that is opposite to the design surface is in close contact with the base material and a portion of the conductive portion that is on the design surface side faces the front surface portion such that power is supplied to an electrical component installed in the vehicle through the conductive portion, the conductive portion being formed of a metal.
VEHICLE INTERIOR COMPONENT
A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component provides a user interface with a display/image when illuminated. The component comprises a composite structure with a cover material providing a light-transmissive effect and a surface providing a surface effect (grain/wood texture) visible when the display is off. The image is presented at the cover surface when the display is on. The cover may comprise a wood veneer with backing (paper, fiber material, etc.). The composite structure may comprise a mask layer and a lens, filter, colorant, etc. The user interface may include a sensor. The light source may comprise a display panel, LED/array, module, etc. The image is visible at the user interface when display functionality is in operation; when display functionality is not in operation the surface effect of the cover (e.g. wood texture) is visible with substantially no indication of display functionality.
Vehicle upholstery member
A vehicle upholstery member includes a base member provided with a surface layer having a three-dimensional shape. An outer surface of the surface layer is formed of planar surface elements arranged without gaps therebetween, each planar surface element having a polygonal planar shape with a predetermined size.
Vehicle trim panel power outlet
A power outlet for a vehicle trim panel comprises an electrical socket having first and second bezels. The second bezel includes a pin that extends toward the first bezel and an adapter assembly is disposed within the electrical socket between the first and second bezels such that a first conductive plate of the adapter assembly is aligned and in contact with a second conductive plate on the pin. The adapter assembly has a base with a plurality of terminals disposed within the base and a faceplate, wherein the adapter assembly is rotatable about a center axis of the electrical socket.
Airbag chute with integral seal
A vehicle interior panel includes a seal between a substrate and an airbag chute and around an opening in the substrate through which the airbag chute is installed. The seal prevents a foam layer from extending into the opening when the foam layer is being molded. The seal is attached to the airbag chute prior to assembly with the substrate and is made from a material that is more flexible than the airbag chute material. The seal can be attached to the airbag chute in a two-shot molding process and spaced from the perimeter of the airbag chute along its back side. During molding of the foam layer, foam expansion pressure acts to improve the function of the seal as a foam barrier.
RESIN MOLDED ARTICLE, MOLDING DEVICE, AND MOLDING METHOD
An instrument panel unit (2) includes an instrument panel (3) and a decorative sheet (4). The instrument panel (3) includes a sticking portion (3a) and an exposed portion (3b). A plurality of insertion grooves 3c and insertion holes 3d are formed alternately at an end on a rear side of the sticking portion (3a), into which bent pieces (4a) formed at a rear end of the decorative sheet (4) are inserted. A groove front-surface (3g) forming the insertion groove (3c) of the instrument panel (3) is formed in a tapered shape such that a width between the groove front-surface and an opposing groove rear-surface (3h) gradually increases upwardly. The bent piece (4a) is formed to be thinner than the groove width at the upper part serving as the entrance part of the insertion groove (3c) and to be thicker than the groove width of a groove bottom-surface (3i).
