An automobile component of the present invention includes a core layer 10 in which tubular cells 20 are arranged in a plurality of rows, and a nonwoven fabric layer 30 on one or both surfaces of the core layer. The cells have closed surfaces 21 and open ends 22 in every other row as cell ends on one surface of the core layer. As cell ends on the other surface of the core layer, the cells have open ends 22 in the rows where the cells have the closed surfaces as cell ends on the one surface, and have closed surfaces 21 in the rows where the cells have the open ends as cell ends on the one surface. The open ends 22 allow the internal space of the cells 20 to be in communication with the outside. A thin resin film layer 40 having a plurality of apertures is provided between the core layer and the nonwoven fabric layer. A ratio S is set so that 0<S<0.3, where S represents a ratio of an area of the apertures provided in the resin film layer corresponding to an opening defined by the open end to an area of the opening.

Glass and exterior panel design for low noise transmission

A noise insulating support panel is provided for a structural assembly and includes a base substrate component and at least one localized stiffening reinforcement feature. The reinforcement feature generally extends across the base substrate component in a length direction aligned with, i.e., substantially parallel to, or substantially perpendicular to, a direction of airflow exhibiting turbulent pressure onto the base substrate component. The reinforcement feature cooperates with the base substrate component to minimize energy transmission through the base substrate component. If the base substrate component is a body panel, the reinforcement feature may be a stiffening rib member; if laminated glass, the reinforcement feature is located within an interlayer disposed between glass layers. The interlayer may include a first region including polyvinyl butyral having a first stiffness, and a second region including polyvinyl butyral having a second, lower stiffness. The reinforcement feature may also be an edge stiffening treatment.

20210043183 · 2021-02-11 ·

A flexible sound barrier and rigid mounting assembly, and a method of attaching to a vehicle. The sound barrier assembly includes a rigid substrate, and flexible noise barrier and decoupling layers. The decoupling and noise barrier layers are bonded, and an adhesive bonds the decoupling layer to the substrate. The decoupling and noise barrier layers are fixedly held in place by the substrate. The substrate can include slots that fit over mounting studs on the vehicle wall. The noise barrier and decoupling layers can include mounting holes that extend through both layers, where the mounting holes line up with the slots, and fit over the mounting studs. The assembly can be mounted on the mounting studs and stud fasteners can fit through a mounting hole without compressing the noise barrier and decoupling layers and sandwich the rigid substrate surrounding a slot between the stud fastener and the vehicle wall.

The present invention reduces the generation of an unusual sound resulting from vibration of a part of a sheet. A first sheet includes: a peripheral portion which is to surround a service hole of a door inner panel; and a central portion surrounded by the peripheral portion, the first sheet having, along a boundary between the central portion and the peripheral portion, a plurality of first holes and a plurality of second holes each of which differs in size from each of the plurality of first holes.

ACOUSTIC BARRIER ASSEMBLY FOR USE IN A VEHICLE

An acoustic barrier assembly includes a first wall that is gas impermeable. The acoustic barrier assembly further includes a second wall that is gas impermeable. The second wall is disposed opposite the first wall. The acoustic barrier assembly further includes a periphery wall coupling the first wall with the second wall in a manner that forms a pocket between the first wall and the second wall. The periphery wall is flexible, and the pocket is fluid-tight. The acoustic barrier assembly further includes a gas disposed in the pocket. The gas has a first molecular weight that is lower than a second molecular weight of air. The acoustic barrier assembly still further includes a biasing member that is disposed within the pocket. The biasing member is coupled with both the first wall and the second wall.
