VEHICLE FRONT ALERT SYSTEM
20190143888 · 2019-05-16 ·

A visual deceleration indicator signals to pedestrians and other vehicles that a vehicle is slowing down or coming to a stop. Illuminating devices, such as LEDs, contained in a license plate frame located in the front of the car or otherwise, are activated when the vehicle decelerates. An accelerometer or other sensory device detects deceleration and sends a signal to illuminate the LEDs, thereby letting others know the vehicle is slowing down. The license plate frame may be connected directly to a rear brake light component without the use of accelerometers or other sensors. When the brake is applied, the LEDs in the license plate frame are illuminated. The LEDs may be contained in other forms and located in different positions on the front or side of the car. The indicator might be one color to indicate braking and another color to indicate it is on, but not braking.

INTEGRATING VEHICLE ALARMS, CAMERAS, AND MOBILE DEVICES
20190122460 · 2019-04-25 ·

A license plate frame includes an electronic device and a camera, such that the camera can capture images in front of or behind a vehicle. The electronic device determines that a collision has occurred between the vehicle with the license plate frame and another vehicle using motion detectors, accelerometer, camera, or other device/sensor. The camera captures video or images of the other vehicle, including the license plate of the other vehicle. In this way, if an owner of a vehicle is not present when a collision occurs (e.g., the car is parked on a street), the owner can determine information about a vehicle that caused the collision. That information may also be utilized to file police reports, submit insurance claims, and generate leads for vehicle repair. The license plate frame also includes a locking mechanism to ensure that only an authorized party can remove the license plate frame.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING AND MITIGATING UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLE LICENSE PLATE REMOVAL

Method and apparatus are disclosed for detecting and mitigating unauthorized vehicle license plate removal. An example vehicle includes a detection circuit having an insulator configured to slide along an axis based on a rotation of a screw holding a license plate, and a processor. The processor is configured to determine, based on a position of the insulator, that the screw has been removed while the vehicle is locked, and responsively activate a camera directed toward the license plate.
