STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG
A steering wheel airbag, arranged to cover a steering wheel when inflation is completed, includes: a front-collision receiving surface which is arranged on a side of a driver when inflation is completed, so as to receive the driver moving forward during a head-on collision of a vehicle, the front-collision receiving surface being arranged substantially along a vertical direction to be tilted with respect to a ring surface of the steering wheel when inflation is completed; and arm restraining parts which are arranged near arms of the driver steering a ring part of the steering wheel on both right and left sides of the front-collision receiving surface when inflation is completed, the arm restraining parts coming into contact with the arms during an oblique collision or an offset collision of the vehicle, so as to prevent a movement of the driver to an obliquely front side.
Vehicle occupant protection device
A vehicle occupant protection device includes: a seat belt device having a selectable force limiter that is configured to switch a force limiter load from a high load to a low load; an airbag device that deploys an airbag in front of the occupant; a movement direction detector that detects a direction in which a head region of the occupant will move relative to the vehicle at the time of frontal collision; an initial position detector that detects a position of the head region prior to the movement; and a control unit that makes a determination whether or not the head region will move outside of an area of protection by the airbag based on detection results of the movement direction detector and the initial position detector and, in a case in which the determination is affirmative, maintains the high load of the force limiter load.
Passenger protection apparatus
A passenger protection apparatus for a vehicle includes first and second airbags, an airbag deployment device, a collision speed detector, a passenger's position detector, a seat moving unit, an airbag deployment determination unit, and a deployment controller. The first airbag is deployable in different sizes. The second airbag is deployable between the first airbag and vehicle equipment. The airbag deployment device deploys the airbags. The collision speed detector detects a collision or collision possibility of a vehicle, and calculates a collision speed. The passenger position detector detects a position of a passenger sitting on a seat. The seat moving unit moves the seat. The airbag deployment determination unit determines a size of the deployed first airbag. The deployment controller determines an amount of movement of the seat, causes the seat moving unit to move the seat, and causes the airbag deployment device to deploy the airbags.
Reducing injury likelihood during front collisions
An apparatus includes a capture device and a processor. The capture device may be configured to generate a plurality of video frames corresponding to an area outside of a vehicle. The processor may be configured to perform operations to detect objects in the video frames, determine whether a potential collision is unavoidable based on the objects detected in the video frames and generate a signal if the potential collision is unavoidable. The signal may be configured to move a position of a seat in the vehicle. The position of the seat may be moved before an impact corresponding to the potential collision occurs.
OUTSIDE PROTECTION APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE
An outside protection apparatus for a vehicle includes an outside airbag device. The outside airbag device includes a bag body expandable to be overlaid on an outer surface of a body of the vehicle, and an inflator configured to expand the bag body. The bag body includes an irregularity formation member at an inner surface of the bag body, and a tether coupled to the irregularity formation member to be bridged in an inner portion of the bag body in a state in which the bag body is expanded. The irregularity formation member forms a projection at a surface of the bag body in response to tension acting on the tether in the state in which the bag body is expanded.
Vehicle body structure
A vehicle body structure has: a front plate portion that faces in a vehicle front-rear direction; an inclined portion that obliquely descends rearward from a lower end of the front plate portion and is coupled to a floor panel making up a floor surface of a cabin; an arch-shaped portion located at outer end portions in a vehicle width direction of the front plate portion and the inclined portion and makes up a wheel arch-shaped rear portion of a tire house; a front side frame located inward of the arch-shaped portion in the vehicle width direction and extends from the front plate portion to the inclined portion in the vehicle front-rear direction; and a reinforcement panel placed over the arch-shaped portion. The reinforcement panel is disposed outward in the vehicle width direction of an innermost portion in the vehicle width direction in the arch-shaped portion.
FRONT AIRBAG DEVICE FOR VEHICLE
A front airbag device for a vehicle is proposed. In the front airbag device, an airbag cushion is mounted in front of a passenger and is expanded to be positioned at a front surface of the passenger, a triangular main tether and a triangular support tether are positioned inside the airbag cushion, and one side of the main tether and one side of the support tether are spaced apart from each other and are coupled to the airbag cushion in a sewn manner, so that the main tether and the support tether support a front surface portion of the airbag cushion to protect a front surface of the passenger.
Dual-chambered side and front airbag
A restraint system includes an A pillar, a dash extending in a cross-vehicle direction from the A pillar, a door extending in a vehicle-rearward direction from the A pillar, and an airbag mounted to the A pillar and inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag includes a side chamber and a front chamber. The side chamber is elongated along the door when the airbag is in the inflated position, and the front chamber is elongated along the dash when the airbag is in the inflated position.
Windshield area intrusion control
An apparatus for resisting entry of objects through a windshield of a vehicle that has a passenger cabin. The apparatus includes an instrument panel that is located between the windshield and the passenger cabin, and an airbag that is deployable into an area above the instrument panel to resist entry of objects into the passenger cabin.
ROOF-MOUNTED OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM
A restraint system for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle having a roof and a cabin with a seat for the occupant includes an airbag having a stored condition within the roof and being inflatable to a deployed condition extending into the cabin and aligned with the seat. The airbag includes a first portion extending along the roof and a second portion extending away from the roof toward the occupant. The second portion being configured to fold away from the occupant in response to occupant penetration into the airbag.
