SILL BEAM UNIFORM DECELERATION UNIT
Devices and methods for absorbing crash energy via a side sill uniform deceleration unit (UDU) is disclosed. The UDU includes a first layer having a top and a bottom, the top of the first layer arranged to be outwardly facing towards a direction of a crash force when the uniform deceleration unit is installed in a vehicle, a second layer disposed on the bottom of the first layer, the second layer having a rib and web structure with a first arrangement, a third layer disposed on a bottom of the second layer, the third layer having a rib and web structure with a second arrangement, and a fourth layer disposed on a bottom of the third layer, the fourth layer arranged to be inwardly facing when the uniform deceleration unit is installed in the vehicle, wherein the fourth includes a reaction beam arranged to allow the first, second, and third layers to crush. The UDU may be installed in or positioned near the side sill beam.
Vehicular airbag device
A vehicular airbag device capable of improving reduction of an occupant obstruction value during a diagonal collision. A vehicular airbag device opens an airbag door on an instrument panel. The outer shape of the airbag when fully deployed and expanded is line-symmetrical with respect to a center line (a line X-X) of the opening in a vehicle left-right width direction, and a width dimension WB in the vehicle width direction at a position of a rear edge 2b of the instrument panel in the vehicle longitudinal direction is greater than a width dimension WC in the vehicle width direction at a position of a center Z1 of the opening in the vehicle longitudinal direction which is more forward in the vehicle longitudinal direction than the rear edge position of the instrument panel.
ENERGY ABSORPTION DEVICE FOR AN OCCUPANT IN VEHICLE SEAT
A restraint system for a vehicle is disclosed. The restraint system includes a seat shaped to accommodate an occupant, wherein the seat includes a seat back and an energy absorption member that expands from a stowed position and into a deployed position. The energy absorption member fills a volume of space behind the seat back when in the deployed position to absorb energy that would otherwise be imparted towards an occupant of the seat during an impact involving the vehicle. The restraint system also includes an impact sensing device generating an impact signal in response to detecting the impact involving the vehicle is imminent. The impact signal indicates an orientation and magnitude of the impact involving the vehicle. The restraint system includes a control module in electronic communication with the energy absorption member and the impact sensing device.
Airbag device
An airbag device that can efficiently suppress an injury value for an occupant in an emergency includes a frontal airbag cushion that is expanded at a vehicle front side of a driver's seat and a curtain airbag cushion that is expanded at an outer side of the frontal airbag cushion in a vehicle width direction. The frontal airbag cushion includes an inner bag that is expanded by receiving a gas, inner vents that are disposed in the inner bag to discharge the gas, an outer bag that contains the inner bag therein and is expanded by receiving the gas from the inner vents and outer vents that are disposed in the outer bag to discharge the gas. A distance between the inner bag and the curtain airbag cushion is smaller than a width of a head of an occupant.
SEATBELT HEIGHT ADJUSTER
A seatbelt height adjuster includes a track elongated along an axis and including a plurality of holes spaced from each other along the axis, a slider slideably coupled to the track, a D-ring supported by the slider, a pin supported by the slider and releasably engageable with one respective hole, and a pyrotechnic actuator supported by the slider and engaged with the pin.
Airbag apparatus
An airbag apparatus including: a first chamber connected to an inflator; a second chamber supported by the first chamber, and connected to the rear of the first chamber so as to support the head of a passenger in case of an oblique collision of a vehicle; a third chamber supported by the first chamber, connected to the rear of the first chamber, and disposed at one side of the second chamber so as to support the head of the passenger in case of a head-on collision of the vehicle; and a connection tether connecting the second and third chambers such that the second and third chambers are suppressed from separating from each other.
CROSS-VEHICLE PIVOTING STEERING ASSEMBLY
An assembly for a vehicle includes an upper steering shaft and a lower steering shaft. A pivot joint is between the upper steering shaft and the lower steering shaft. The upper steering shaft is pivotable in a cross-vehicle direction about the pivot joint. A pin is connected to the upper steering shaft and the lower steering shaft. The pin is releasable from at least one of the upper steering shaft and the lower steering shaft.
Vehicle seat with deployable panel
A seat includes a seat bottom and a seatback. A seatbelt buckle is supported by the seat bottom. A restraint is deployable from the seatback to a deployed position and in the deployed position includes a first edge extending along the seatback, a second edge extending along the seat bottom, and a third edge extending from the first edge to the second edge. The restraint is disposed outboard of the seatbelt buckle relative to the seat bottom.
Curtain airbag
A curtain airbag includes an upper airbag configured to deploy in a position opposite to an upper half of a side part of a vehicle in which a window is formed, and a lower airbag configured to deploy in a position opposite to a lower half of the side part and coupled to the upper airbag in an up-and-down direction. The upper airbag includes a first expansion section configured to extend in the up-and-down direction and expand to increase in volume in a front part more than in a back part of the first expansion section in a width direction of the vehicle, and the lower airbag includes a second expansion section configured to extend in the up-and-down direction and expand to increase in volume in a front part more than in a back part of the second expansion section in the width direction of the vehicle.
Airbag apparatus
An airbag apparatus may include: a first chamber connected to an inflator, and supporting the head of a passenger in case of a head-on collision of a vehicle; a second chamber connected to one side of the first chamber so as to be supported by the first chamber, and suppressing the head of the passenger from moving in a diagonal direction in case of an oblique collision of the vehicle; a communication part formed in the first chamber so as to introduce gas of the first chamber into the second chamber; and a valve tether installed along the circumference of the communication part, connected to the first chamber, and closing the communication part when the first chamber is completely deployed.
