ROOF MOUNTED AIRBAG ASSMEBLY FOR REAR SEAT

An airbag assembly includes a base member and an airbag supported by the base member and being inflatable to an inflated position. The airbag includes a panel and a plurality of sheets attached to the panel. The panel includes a first portion extending in a first direction from the base member to a distal end and a second portion extending in a second direction transverse to the first direction from the base member to a distal end. Each sheet is elongated in the first direction along the first portion of the panel and elongated in the second direction along the second portion of the panel. During a vehicle impact, the momentum of the occupant may move the occupant towards the airbag. The airbag may absorb energy from the head and knees of the occupant, which may assist in reducing injuries.

An airbag is disclosed, including a main bag section deployable in front of a passenger seat, a center bag section which is deployable in such a manner as to protrude towards an inboard side in a vehicle width direction out of the main bag section to an area beneath the rearview mirror. The center bag section includes, on the upper portion as deployed, a region that faces the rearview mirror in an up and down direction. The center bag section internally includes a regulating tether that is disposed generally along an up and down direction and connects the region of the upper portion of the center bag section facing the rearview mirror at airbag deployment and a region of a lower portion of the center bag section deployed beneath the region facing the rearview mirror in order to prevent contact between the center bag section and the rearview mirror.

Vehicle frame component

A vehicle frame component for limiting the movement of the wheel of the vehicle toward the cab of a cab on frame vehicle including a base member welded to openings in the frame side rail and extending outwardly and located proximal the wheel structure. In one embodiment the vehicle frame component is located forward of the wheel and includes a tire puncture device to deflate the tire during an offset front impact and in a second embodiment the vehicle frame component is located rearward of the wheel. The vehicle frame component has particular utility during an offset front impact where the offset is less than approximately twenty-five percent (25%) of the width of the vehicle.

VEHICLE STRUCTURE

A push arm has a rear surface and a front surface. A rear surface of the push arm is located adjacent to and spaced apart from a first cross-member defining a gap therebetween. The push arm extends forward and laterally outward such that the front surface of the push arm is located laterally outboard of and spaced apart from a front end of a first side member of a vehicle frame. A support bracket has a front section releasably attached to the push arm and a rear section releasably attached to a first cross-member of the vehicle frame adjacent to an intersection of the first side member and the first cross-member. The support bracket is configured such that in response to an off-center impact event against the front surface of the push arm, the support bracket guiding movement of the push arm in a rearward direction.

The present disclosure provides an occupant protection device including: side support sections pair provided at a seat width direction left and right of a seatback; an outside bag body, provided inside an outside side support section out of the side support sections pair which is disposed at a window section side, that displaces the outside side support section by gas being supplied to and inflating an interior portion of the outside bag body; an inside bag body, provided inside an inside side support section out of the side support sections pair which is disposed at opposite side of the outside side support section, that displaces the inside side support section by gas being supplied to and inflating an interior portion of the inside bag body; and a communicating connection member that places the outside bag body and the inside bag body in communication.

FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG DEVICE

A front passenger seat airbag device includes a module case; a front passenger seat airbag configured such that, in a folded state, a height of a first airbag section positioned at a vehicle outer side is lower than a height of a second airbag section positioned at a vehicle inner side, and widths of the first airbag section and the second airbag section are substantially the same; an inflator disposed at a bottom side of the module case; and a raising member disposed at a bottom portion of the module case, and that raises a height of a first support face supporting the first airbag section to be higher than a height of a second support face supporting the second airbag section, such that a height of an upper face of the first airbag section is substantially aligned with a height of an upper face of the second airbag section.

Vehicle structure

A push arm has a rear surface and a front surface. A rear surface of the push arm is located adjacent to and spaced apart from a front suspension structure defining a gap therebetween.

An airbag includes a main inflatable section which includes a front-collision arresting face at the rear plane as deployed, a protruding inflatable section which includes an oblique-collision arresting face, and an arresting recess formed between the front-collision arresting face and oblique-collision arresting face. An outer tether is disposed on the outside of the airbag for preventing the protruding inflatable section from moving away from the main inflatable section at airbag deployment. The outer tether includes a side edge disposed towards the protruding inflatable section and a front edge disposed towards the main inflatable section. The side edge is jointed to an upper edge of the oblique-collision arresting face by a side joint which is formed over a generally entire area in a front and rear direction of the protruding inflatable section. The front edge is jointed to an upper edge of the front-collision arresting face by a front joint.

A frontal airbag (10) having an outer skin (12) enclosing a gas space (G). The outer skin (12) forming an impact area (14) in front a vehicle occupant (P) and extends horizontally in a first direction (Y) and in a second perpendicular direction (Z) when the airbag (10) is fully deployed. A first tether (20) extends in the first direction (Y) from a first end (21) connected to the impact area (14) at a first connection (25) to a second end (22) connected to the impact area (14) at a second connection (26). The first connection (25) extending in the second direction (Z) from a lower end to an upper end and the second connection (24) extending in the second direction (Z) from a lower end to an upper end, such that an intermediate impact area section (14c) is spanned by the first tether (20). The first tether (20) is under tension when the outer skin (12) is fully deployed such that the tension in the intermediate section (14c) of the impact area (14) is reduced relative to impact area sections (14a, 14b) next to the intermediate section (14c).
