Stitching for a protection device

In one example, an apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device having a deflated condition and an inflated condition. The protection device includes a first panel having a centerline and first and second openings. A second panel is secured to the first panel to define an inflatable volume. First and second self-adaptive vents are secured to the first panel over the first and second openings on opposite sides of the centerline for selectively releasing inflation fluid from the inflatable volume in response to penetration of the occupant into the protection device. A first reinforcing stitching extends through the first panel and around a portion of the first self-adaptive vent. A second reinforcing stitching extends through the first panel and around a portion of the second self-adaptive vent. Each of the first and second reinforcing stitchings is spaced entirely from the respective first and second self-adaptive vents.

A passenger protection apparatus for a vehicle includes an armrest, a movable member, and a controller. The armrest is provided on a side of a seat in a vehicle on which an arm of a passenger sitting on the seat can be placed. The movable member is provided in the armrest, and configured to move from the armrest toward a side of an upper body of the passenger sitting on the seat and retract into the armrest. The controller is configured to move and retract the movable member in accordance with a behavior of the vehicle.

Deployable headrest airbag

A deployable headrest airbag includes an airbag chamber configured to be coupled to a headrest of a vehicle seat. The airbag chamber has a stowed position and a deployed position. In stowed position, the airbag chamber is disposed inside the headrest. In the deployed position, the deployable headrest airbag is disposed outside of the headrest to protect a head and a neck of a vehicle occupant.

Side airbag device

The side airbag device includes an inflator and a side airbag that is stored in a folded state in a side portion of a seatback of a vehicle seat and is inflatable and deployable in a space between a vehicle sidewall and a side portion of an occupant. The side airbag includes an outer bag and an inner bag. The inner bag houses the inflator and is disposed at a rear portion of the outer bag along an extending direction of the seatback. The outer bag is provided with a vent hole configured to communicate with an outside. The inner bag is provided with a gas circulating hole configured to communicate with the outer bag. The gas circulating hole is disposed at a position to be blocked by the outer bag when the side airbag in an inflated and deployed state is pressed between the occupant and the vehicle sidewall.

A passenger protection apparatus includes an inflator and an airbag. The inflator is configured to supply gas. The airbag is configured to deploy to surround a sitting position of a passenger by the gas supplied from the inflator. One end of the airbag is supported on an upper portion of a vehicle, and the other end of the airbag contacts an in-vehicle member and is supported by the in-vehicle member.

VEHICLE AIRBAG

An assembly includes a seat back having a top end. The assembly includes an airbag supported by the seat back and inflatable to an inflated position including an inner panel and an outer panel defining an inflation chamber therebetween. The assembly includes a plurality of support tubes inflatable to inflated positions extending from the seat back along the outer panel, at least one of the support tubes in the inflated position extending from the top end of the seat back.

Seat airbag

An assembly includes a seatback. The assembly includes a first airbag and a second airbag, each inflatable to an inflated position spaced from each other at the seatback and abutting each other in front of and spaced from the seatback. The assembly includes a sheet extending from the first airbag to the second airbag in front of where the first airbag abuts the second airbag in the inflated positions.

Collision impact force reduction method and system
10843592 · 2020-11-24 · ·

The present disclosure relates to a method for collision impact force reduction for a vehicle. The method comprises determining a smallest relative distance (D) between a head of a driver of the vehicle and a steering wheel assembly comprising an airbag of the vehicle, obtaining information of an imminent collision, the collision being at least partly frontal, comparing (300) the smallest relative distance (D) to a pre-defined threshold, and, when said smallest relative distance (D) is equal to or less than said pre-defined threshold, initiating a forward displacement of a driver seat of the vehicle and a retraction of the steering wheel assembly comprising an airbag, preferably a retraction along the steering column of the steering wheel assembly.

Monument mounted airbag

A monument mounted airbag system for arresting passenger movement during a sudden acceleration/deceleration event of a moving vehicle includes an airbag assembly including at least one airbag on a first portion of a monument structure, the airbag assembly having a housing at least partially defined by a space between an external member and the monument structure.
