A device for triggering at least one external protection function for a motor vehicle for the protection of external road users in particular need of protection, in particular for the protection of pedestrians, includes a control unit for evaluating sensor data from a first sensor system for sensing collision objects and for outputting a first trigger signal for the at least one external protection function, as well as an auxiliary control unit for evaluating sensor data from a second sensor system for sensing collision objects and for directly outputting a second trigger signal for the at least one external protection function if a collision object was detected, the auxiliary control unit being adapted such that the control unit is bypassed when the second trigger signal is output.
GARMENT PROVIDED WITH AN INFLATABLE PROTECTIVE DEVICE AND ASSOCIATED METHOD FOR ADJUSTING OPERATIONAL MODES OF THE INFLATABLE PROTECTIVE DEVICE
The present invention relates to a garment (10) comprising an inflatable protective device (11). The inflatable protective device (11) comprises: at least one inflatable bag (12), an inflator unit (14) designed for inflating the at least one inflatable bag (12), sensors (17, 18) designed for monitoring the user's body for detecting shocks or unexpected movements and a control unit (19) designed for processing the data provided by the sensors (17, 18) and for activating the inflator unit (14) if, on the basis of the data received by the sensors (17, 18), a danger situation is identified. According to the invention the control unit (19) comprises storing means (25) containing at least two different setup parameter sets and/or firmwares (29) of the control unit (19) for controlling the activation of the inflator unit (14); the control unit (19) being further provided with selecting means (31) for selecting one of the said at least two different setup parameter sets and/or firmwares (29). The invention also relates to a method for adjusting the operational modes of the inflatable protective device (11) of the garment (10).
Modular trailer system
A trailer brake and monitoring system with a trailer control module, which has a processor, a signal input, a first wheel speed input, a second wheel speed input, a valve output, and a data port. The processor receives a signal from the signal input, and the processor sends the signal to the data port. The processor receives a first wheel speed signal from the first wheel speed input and a second wheel speed signal from the second wheel speed input. The processor is configured to send a first brake signal to the valve output based on at least one of the first wheel speed signal and the second wheel speed signal. The trailer control module may include third and fourth wheel speed inputs and a second valve output. The data port may be a power input configured for connection with a PLC cable and/or a CAN port.

The present disclosure provides an alarm apparatus and a vehicle safety system for preventing leaving child in a vehicle. The alarm apparatus includes: a power supply circuit configure to supply power to the alarm apparatus; a central processing unit; a communication module configured to transmit alarm information to an external communication terminal; a vehicle condition monitoring device; at least an infrared monitor configured to monitor whether there is a human in the vehicle and transmit a human monitoring result to the central processing unit; and a temperature sensor configured to monitor a temperature inside the vehicle and transmit a temperature detection result to the central processing unit such that the central processing unit control the communication module to transmit the alarm information to the external communication terminal based on the temperature detection result. In this manner, leaving children in vehicles can be effectively prevented to avoid accidents.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DAMPENING IMPACT TO A VEHICLE
Systems and methods are provided for dampening impact to a vehicle. The system may include a vehicle frame component; a plurality of adjustable exterior vehicle body components coupled to the frame component, wherein the vehicle body components are on different sides of a vehicle and are configurable to dampen an external force exerted on the vehicle; a plurality of actuator components configured to adjust physical configurations of the vehicle body components relative to the frame component; a component configured to collect data representing an external environment of the vehicle; and one or more processors configured to detect, by processing the data, an external driving condition, wherein the external driving condition is an impending collision between the vehicle and one or more objects external to the vehicle, and when the external driving condition is detected, cause the actuator components to correspondingly adjust the physical configurations of the vehicle body components.

An airbag electronic control unit for a vehicle includes a main controller unit (MCU) for, in response to detecting a vehicle event, actuating at least one protection device in the vehicle. A battery is provided for receiving power from the vehicle to power the MCU such that power to the MCU is continuous.

An occupant protection device capable of protecting occupants at a higher level is provided. An occupant protection device comprises a first sensor for detecting a value concerning a rotation angle of a vehicle, a second sensor for detecting an acceleration in the vehicle longitudinal direction, and a collision determination section adapted to determinate whether or not a collision has occurred to the vehicle based on the detection result of the first sensor and to determinate whether or not the collision has occurred to the vehicle also based on the detection result of the second sensor.

A method of folding an airbag for a driver airbag module having a front airbag layer connected at least in portions to a rear airbag layer includes flatly spreading the airbag onto a support surface so that the front airbag layer comes to rest on the rear airbag layer. Each of a left-hand lateral airbag portion and a right-hand lateral airbag portion is zigzag folded multiple times in the direction of a longitudinal axis of the airbag. Each of an upper airbag portion and a lower airbag portion is furled in the direction of a transverse axis of the airbag.
