A vehicle for use in an amusement park ride with upright passenger seating. The vehicle includes a vehicle body and a seat assembly including a seat pan provided in the vehicle body between a front end and a rear end of the vehicle body. The vehicle further includes a passenger restraint system with: (a) a lap bar assembly; (b) a lap bar mount pivotally supporting the lap bar assembly within the vehicle body to pivot about a lap bar rotation axis passing between the seat pan and the front end of the vehicle body; (c) a side leg shield; and (d) a shield articulating assembly concurrently pivoting the side leg shield about a shield rotation axis from an open to a closed position with a pivoting of the lap bar assembly about the lap bar rotation axis from a disengage to an engaged position.

Utility vehicle

A utility vehicle is provided with a hip guard member disposed adjacent to a seat for a crew member and guarding the crew member sitting on the seat from outside in a vehicle width direction. The utility vehicle includes: a seat frame provided below the seat and supporting the seat; and a seatbelt apparatus configured to hold the crew member sitting on the seat. The seatbelt apparatus includes a retractor supporting an end of webbing so as to freely wind the webbing. The retractor is attached to the seat frame, and the retractor projects outward in the vehicle width direction from the hip guard member.

Latch device and anchor with swivel coupling

Latch systems having latch devices for releasably engaging anchors are disclosed herein. A latch system configured in accordance with one embodiment of the disclosure includes a latch device having an anchor aperture configured to receive a head portion of an anchor. The latch device includes a first engagement member operably coupled to an actuator. The first engagement member can restrain the head portion between the anchor aperture and a second engagement member, and the second engagement member can urge the head portion against the first engagement member. In operation, a user can move the actuator from a first position to a second actuator position to move the first engagement member away from the head portion and release the latch device from the anchor.

The vehicle safety seat includes a seat bottom, a backrest, and a headrest, wherein the seat is secured to a frame. The frame is pivotally secured to the floor and frame of a vehicle, wherein the seat can recline immediately in advance of a collision for absorbing impact forces. The safety seat further includes telescoping shields that are retractably secured to the lateral sides of the seat bottom, backrest, and headrest. The shields are projected from the safety seat, creating a protective cocoon around the seat occupant prior to a collision. The seat is operably connected to one or more sensors that can detect an imminent collision between the vehicle and another object, wherein a pneumatic system deploys the shields and an electro-mechanical system reclines the seat.
