Safety Device
A pretensioning lapbelt apparatus where the pretensioning of the lapbelt is performed by the rapid inflation of an airbag that is integral to the lapbelt itself. A preferred embodiment of the pretensioning lapbelt apparatus would include a length of seatbelt webbing with a latch fixed on one end and a cinching anchor slidable on the opposite end. Integral to the lapbelt and attached to each end of the webbing is an airbag. The airbag, as is known in the art, is configured to be flat and folded in a compact uninflated state, and then quickly inflate to its inflated state upon the introduction of an inflation gas triggered by a crash event. The design of the airbag, including the attachment locations of the ends of the webbing are chosen such that, upon inflation of the airbag, the free end of the webbing—the end of the webbing that is passed through the cinching latch—is pulled taught, thereby reducing the effective length of the lapbelt (the length between the latch and the cinching anchor). The anchor is designed to be a cinching anchor such that once the airbag deploys and pulls the webbing through the anchor (thereby pretensioning the lapbelt) a sliding pin in the anchor “cinches” the webbing, effectively locking the webbing in the pretensioned state.

Portable hi-back car seat/restraint system/seat pad assemblies and methods of making and using same
A hi-back vehicle seat and seat pad restraint system includes a vehicle seat assembly having a vehicle seat back and a vehicle seat operatively connected to the vehicle seat back, a hi-back vehicle seat assembly operatively connected to the vehicle seat assembly, a vehicle safety belt assembly operatively connected to the vehicle seat assembly, wherein the vehicle safety belt assembly interacts with the hi-back vehicle seat assembly, a seat pad assembly located on the vehicle and attached to the vehicle seat assembly. Furthermore, the hi-back vehicle seat assembly can be equipped with a five (5) point harness. Also, the seat pad assembly can be equipped with a seat pad assembly restraining shoulder strap and a restraining shoulder strap connector to keep the shoulder portion of vehicle seat belts correctly positioned over the torso of the end user.
Protective covering device for drivers and passengers
The presently disclosed subject matter is generally directed to a protective device that can be used to protect the clothing of a user and the interior of a vehicle due to inadvertent food and beverage spills. The device includes an upper section that covers at least a portion of the torso of a user, while leaving the user's hands and arms free for controlling a vehicle. The device further includes a lower section for covering at least a portion of the user's lap and thighs. Advantageously, the device includes a fold that extends from the upper section. The fold has the dual purpose of protecting the vehicle seat belt when in use and adhering the device in place. The device includes a top absorbent layer for containing liquid and food spills, and a lower impermeable layer for prevent liquid spills from contacting the user's clothing or the vehicle.

A system for monitoring and generating warnings of situations in which a safety harness of an infant carrier, car set, stroller, or other type of child safety seat is left in a buckled state, which comprises a warning apparatus with a lower portion that fits around a lower buckle of a safety harness and has a flap extending from one side of the lower portion that, once an upper buckle of the once attached to the lower buckle, can be placed by a caregiver across the top of the upper to buckle and attached to the lower portion to cause the state of a wireless transmitter to change.
Monitoring System for Unattended Children in Child Seats

An airbag apparatus includes a longitudinal webbing guide configured to guide movement in a longitudinal direction of webbing, an inflatable airbag disposed along an outer side of the webbing guide, a bag cover configured to cover the airbag, and an upper side coupling member configured to couple a guide upper end of the webbing guide to a cover upper end of the bag cover, and move upward along the webbing together with the airbag when the airbag is inflated and deployed. A seatbelt apparatus includes the airbag apparatus.
