Backlight unit with emission modification
A display system and method are disclosed that includes an electronic display device and a backlight comprising a light-emitting array, a reflector adjacent to the light-emitting array, a diffuser opposite the reflector, a first brightness enhancing layer adjacent the diffuser, and an optical film in the backlight unit that includes at least one light conversion material or at least one light conversion material. The light conversion material is structured and configured to reduce hazardous blue light emissions between about 400 nm to about 500 nm. The disclosed display device can include a liquid crystal panel configured to control transmission of light from the backlight to a viewer. The display device also includes one or more optical films that incorporate one or more light conversion or light absorbing materials. The optical films can be positioned between the layers of the disclosed display device and give enhanced blue-light absorption to the display device.
Compensation device for luminance uniformity and method thereof
Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a compensation device of luminance uniformity and a controlling method thereof, more particularly, to a technology of predicting a level of maximum luminance value that is changed in compensating luminance uniformity of an image displayed on a display apparatus and providing it to a user. A compensation device of luminance uniformity according to an embodiment includes a data acquirer configured to acquire a luminance value of an image displayed on a display apparatus; a controller configured to determine a maximum luminance value and a minimum luminance value among the acquired luminance values, and determine luminance uniformity of the minimum luminance value based on the maximum luminance value, and determine a change amount of the maximum luminance value to be adjusted in order to change the determined luminance uniformity; and a display configured to display the change amount of the maximum luminance value adjusted to change the luminance uniformity, and the luminance uniformity that is changed in response to the change amount of the maximum luminance value.
Display device with backlight and method thereof
The display device that includes a backlight module and a control circuit is introduced. The control circuit divides an input image to a plurality of blocks, calculates a backlight parameter of each of the blocks, calculates a first duty cycle shift and a second duty cycle shift according to a plurality of duty cycles in the backlight parameter, calculates a first weight value and a second weight value according to a maximum duty cycle, a minimum duty cycle, and a duty cycle mean, and calculates a peaking duty cycle the first duty cycle shift, the second duty cycle shift, the first weight value and the second weight value. The control circuit is further configured to generate an output backlight parameter according to the peaking duty cycle, wherein the corresponding lighting unit of the backlight module is driven according to the output backlight parameter.
Backlight including patterned reflectors, diffuser plate, and method for fabricating the backlight
A backlight includes a substrate, a plurality of light sources, a reflective layer, a light guide plate, a pattern of light extractors, a plurality of patterned reflectors, and a diffusive layer. The plurality of light sources are proximate the substrate. The reflective layer is on the substrate. The light guide plate is proximate the plurality of light sources. The pattern of light extractors is on the light guide plate. The plurality of patterned reflectors are on the light guide plate. Each patterned reflector is aligned with a corresponding light source. The diffusive layer is on the light guide plate.
Display device and manufacturing method for the same
A display device includes a light-emitting element layer and a light control layer. The light control layer may include a plurality of separated partition wall parts including a partition wall part, a color control part between the partition wall parts, the color control part including quantum dots and a first scattering particle, and a coating layer covering a side of the partition wall part adjacent to the color control part. The coating layer includes at least one selected from a substitution dispersant and a substitution scattering particle, and each of the substitution dispersant and the substitution scattering particle may include at least one substituent selected from an amine group and a carboxyl group. The amine groups and the carboxyl groups included in the coating layer may be different in number from each other.
Light-emitting diode adopting a multi-color light emitting chip and backlight-type display device including the light-emitting diode
A light-emitting diode (LED) and a backlight-type display device are provided. The light-emitting diode includes: a multi-color light emitting chip, an emission spectrum thereof including a first peak in a wavelength range of a first primary-color light and a second peak in a wavelength range of a second primary-color light, and an absolute value of a wavelength difference between the first and second peaks being greater than 50 nm; and a phosphor-containing layer, disposed over the multi-color light emitting chip and used to be excited to emit a third primary-color light. Owing to the LED adopts the multi-color light emitting chip which has the first and second peaks in different wavelength ranges and the absolute valve of the wavelength difference is greater than 50 nm, RGB three-primary-color lights can be outputted by adopting a single-color light phosphor powder with relatively high reliability. The backlight-type display device can obtain a high NTSC level.
Light emitting device
A light emitting device includes a light emitting element adapted to emit blue light, quantum dots that absorb part of the blue light emitted from the light emitting element to emit green light, and at least one of a KSF phosphor adapted to absorb part of the blue light emitted from the light emitting element to emit red light and a MGF phosphor adapted to absorb part of the blue light emitted from the light emitting element to emit red light.
Display device and backlight apparatus thereof
A backlight apparatus includes a circuit board, a control board, and a connection cable connecting the above components. A first light source driver and a second light source driver are disposed on the circuit board and are electrically connected to a plurality of first light sources and a plurality of second light sources respectively. A connector is disposed on the circuit board. The first and second light source drivers are individually electrically coupled in series to the connector. The control board outputs electrical power, a first data stream, and a second data stream. The first light source driver controls the first light sources to light individually according to the first data stream. The second light source driver controls the second light sources to light individually according to the second data stream. Thereby, the circuit board can control the operation of the light sources individually.
Display device
Disclosed herein are a backlight unit and a display device using the same. In an embodiment, the backlight unit includes a substrate, at least one light source on the substrate, a lenses placed over the light source, a reflection sheet in which at least one through hole corresponding to the lens is formed, and a reflection ring comprising an opening portion corresponding to the at least one light source, and placed between the lens and the substrate. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, luminance uniformity of the backlight unit can be improved because the reflection ring surrounding the light source is included.

A light-emitting module includes a light guide member including a first light guide portion including a first upper surface, a first lower surface, a first lateral surface, a first extending portion facing the first lateral surface and extending continuously from a portion of the first lateral surface, and a first hole portion, and a second light guide portion including a second upper surface, a second lower surface, a second lateral surface, a second extending portion facing the second lateral surface and extending continuously from a portion of the second lateral surface, and a second hole portion; a light source unit including a first light source disposed in the first hole portion, and a second light source disposed in the second hole portion; and a first light-reflective member covering at least a portion of the first lateral surface facing the first extending portion and at least a portion of the first extending portion facing the first lateral surface, in which the first extending portion faces the second extending portion.
