Webbing take-up device

In a webbing take-up device, a FL lock pawl is actuated by rotation of a spool in a pull-out direction relative to a lock base, coupling the spool and a lock ring of an energy absorption mechanism together by the FL lock pawl. A reduction in number of times the FL lock pawl is actuated is thereby enabled in comparison to a case in which the FL lock pawl always actuates on actuation of a lock mechanism. The occurrence of wear or the like of ratchet teeth of the FL lock pawl is suppressed as a result. Accordingly, improvement of margin for durability of the FL lock pawl that actuates the energy absorption mechanism is enabled.

Webbing take-up device

In a webbing take-up device, a lock ring of an energy absorption mechanism is disposed coaxially to a spool. An anchor hook (one end portion) of a wire is anchored to the lock ring, and the wire is wound around a wire attachment face (outer peripheral portion) of the lock ring from the anchor hook to another end portion of the wire. Most of the wire excluding a second energy absorption portion is accordingly disposed around the wire attachment face of the lock ring that is disposed coaxially to the spool, thereby enabling an increase in size of the body of the webbing take-up device to be suppressed in comparison to a case in which the lock ring is disposed parallel to the spool.

A web position and attenuation apparatus includes an elastically deformable body having a first end and a second end opposite the first end, one of the first and second ends configured to be affixed to a frame of a movable vehicle, a web coupling member received on the elastically deformable body, the web coupling member movable relative to, and positionable along, the elastically deformable body, the web coupling member defining a web slot, and a flexible web extending through the web slot, the flexible web part of a restraint system to restrain an occupant of a vehicle seat mounted within the vehicle. The elastically deformable body is responsive to dynamic loads applied by the occupant through the flexible web to the web coupling member to absorb energy and attenuate tension in the flexible web via elastic deformation of the elastically deformable body.

A vehicle seat belt system (20) has a seat belt webbing (22) which is attached to a tongue (30) that fastens into a buckle mechanism (6) fixed to a load bearing part of the vehicle. The belt system (20) has a seat belt retractor (40), a seat belt webbing (22) with a lap belt portion (23) appropriately anchored and shoulder harness portion (25), a self-adjustable webbing guide (65) and a vertical strap webbing (55). The self-adjusting webbing guide (65) includes a pivoting guide (66) connected to a locking mechanism (70) activated by a forward movement of the occupant (1, 100) extending the shoulder webbing (25).

Force absorbing shoulder belt assemblies especially useful for aircraft occupant seats

Force absorbing shoulder belt assemblies for vehicle seats, especially aircraft seats, are provided. The shoulder belt assemblies will include a box structure defining an interior space having an open rear end and adapted to being fixed to adjacent vehicle structure, a block of a compressible material positioned within the interior space of the box structure, a rear plate in pressing contact with the rear face of the block of compressible material, and an inertial reel assembly carried by the rear plate and including a shoulder web strap which extends through the rear plate, the block of compressible material and the box structure. When a deceleration force of predetermined magnitude is exerted on the shoulder web strap of the inertial reel, the rear plate will responsively be forcibly pressed against the block of compressible material thereby compressively crushing the compressible material within the box structure to thereby absorb shock force of the shoulder web strap against vehicle seat occupant's torso.

Load-limiting seatbelt retractor

A restraint system includes a retractor housing, a webbing spool rotatably coupled to the retractor housing and defining an axis of rotation, a wire spool lockable to the webbing spool, a die fixed relative to the retractor housing, and a wire fixed to the wire spool and engaged with the die.

SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES FOR USE WITH A SEAT BELT OF A VEHICLE

A seat belt buckle assembly for use with a seat belt of a vehicle includes a bracket having a first portion configured to be fixed to a chassis of the vehicle and a second portion extending from the first portion away from the chassis. The seat belt buckle assembly further includes a buckle mounted to the second portion of the bracket and configured to selectively couple with a tongue of the seat belt. The bracket is configured to restrains motion of the buckle during a vehicle event. The seat belt buckle assembly further includes a receptacle defining an aperture extending therethrough, with the buckle at least partially disposed within the aperture and held by the receptacle for spatially locating the buckle within the vehicle.
