WHEELCHAIR-BOUND PASSENGER RESTRAINT DEVICE
A wheelchair-bound passenger restraint device has a wheelchair retractor that rewinds one end portion of a wheelchair belt member in an extractable manner, a wheelchair buckle that can be fitted with a wheelchair tongue plate, a passenger retractor that rewinds one end portion of a passenger belt member in an extractable manner, a passenger buckle that can be fitted with a passenger tongue plate, a buckle sensor that detects that the wheelchair tongue plate has been fitted to the wheelchair buckle, and a passenger belt lock mechanism that is configured to be able to make a changeover between a locked state making the passenger belt member unextractable an unlocked state making the passenger belt member extractable, and that makes a changeover from the locked state to the unlocked state when it is detected that the wheelchair tongue plate has been fitted to the wheelchair buckle.

Tuning of a kinematic relationship between members
Described herein is a device comprising members in a kinematic relationship. The kinematic relationship is at least partially governed by at least one magnetically induced force that introduces a force threshold that, in effect, provides a threshold to part movement and confers a degree of hysteresis, preventing movement until a sufficiently large energizing force is applied. The effect may be further altered by use of an additional magnetically induced force interaction with at least one further member to urge or slow movement once started and/or to prevent movement once a new position is reached.

SEAT BELT SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE WITH ELECTRICALLY-ACTUATED MODE-CHANGING RETRACTOR
A seat belt system for a vehicle comprises a first seat belt buckle mounted at a first location, a second seat belt buckle mounted at a second location and a seat belt retractor mounted at a third location, a seat belt and a circuit. The third location is spaced along a seat for an occupant from the second location. The seat belt is extendable from the seat belt retractor and has a tongue. The seat belt is extendable to connect the tongue to the first seat belt buckle or the second seat belt buckle. The circuit interconnects the first seat belt buckle, the second seat belt buckle and the seat belt retractor. The circuit is configured to change an operating mode of the seat belt retractor when (1) the seat belt tongue is removed from the first seat belt buckle and/or (2) the seat belt tongue is removed from the second seat belt buckle. An optional indicator can be provided to indicate to the vehicle operator that the operating mode of the retractor has been changed.

SEAT BELT TAKE-UP CONTROL SYSTEM
A seat belt take-up control system includes: a first belt-take-up unit mounted at a child seat, the first belt-take-up unit taking up a seat belt of a vehicle seat and applying a predetermined tension at a time of fastening the seat belt; a belt lock unit that prevents pulling out of the seat belt in a state which the seat belt has been taken up by the first belt-take-up unit; and an second belt-take-up unit that, in a state in which pulling out of the seat belt has been locked by the belt lock unit, takes up the seat belt and applies a predetermined tension after the seat belt is fastened in at least one of a case in which pulling out of the seat belt is detected or a case in which a predetermined period of time has elapsed.
