SAFETY BELT RETRACTOR

The present invention relates to a safety belt retractor, comprising a frame (1), a belt reel (3), which is rotatably supported in the frame (1) and is configured for winding a webbing (2), a force-limiting member (4), which fails when a predetermined load threshold is exceeded, and a pretensioner (10) having a drive wheel (6) coupled with the belt reel (3) via the force-limiting member (4), wherein the drive wheel is drivable to rotate the belt reel (3) in a winding direction of the webbing, so as to pretension the webbing. The drive wheel (6) is directly rotation-fixedly connected with the force-limiting member (4) at a first side facing the belt reel (3), wherein the drive wheel (6) is rotatably supported relative to the belt reel (3) except for a rotation-fixed connection. The safety belt retractor further comprises a lockable stop wheel (9), wherein the drive wheel (6) is directly rotation-fixedly connected with the stop wheel (9) at a second side facing away from the belt reel (3). The safety belt retractor has a compact structure and a stable force-limiting function.

LOAD-LIMITING SEATBELT RETRACTOR

A restraint system includes a retractor housing; a spool rotatably coupled to the retractor housing and defining an axis of rotation; an inner torsion bar elongated along the axis of rotation and positioned coaxially in the spool; an outer torsion bar elongated along the axis of rotation, extending coaxially around the inner torsion bar, and positioned coaxially in the spool; an engagement member selectively engageable with the outer torsion bar; and a solenoid operable to move the engagement member into engagement with the outer torsion bar and out of engagement with the outer torsion bar.

WEB RETRACTORS FOR PERSONAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Web retractors and associated systems and methods for retracting a web, such as a seat belt web, are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a sealed web retractor includes a frame having a side wall with a first opening, a locking assembly housing attached to the side wall and having a second opening adjacent to the first opening, and a spool shaft having a portion that extends through the first and second openings. In some embodiments, the retractor can further include a bushing and a seal operably disposed in the first opening and extending around an outer periphery of the spool shaft.

Seat belt retractor including pretensioner and slack remover

A seat belt retractor includes a housing and a spool supported by the housing. Webbing is wound around the spool. A webbing engagement member is supported by the housing and is movable to a locked position engaged with the webbing for preventing movement of the webbing relative to webbing engagement member. An activating device is slideably supported by the housing and is slideably engageable with the webbing engagement member for moving the webbing locking device to the locked position. In the locked position, the webbing locking device prevents the webbing from being fed from the spool, thus preventing any slack in the webbing on the spool from being fed out when the webbing locking device is in the locked position.
