SYSTEM AND METHOD DETERMINING SEATBELT WEBBING PAYOUT
A seatbelt retractor includes a retractor frame, a spool fixed for common rotation with a spool shaft, a seatbelt webbing wrapped around the spool, a reduction mechanism, and a sensor coupled to the reduction mechanism for sensing the movement of the spool.
MODULAR SEATBELT RETRACTOR
A belt retractor (40) having a belt reel (14), a seat belt (12) which can be wound thereon to form a belt reel, and at least one first assembly, the first assembly being arranged coaxially with the axis of rotation of the belt reel (14) and in series with the belt reel (14). The belt retractor is especially adapted for mounting inside the frame member of a motor vehicle seat.
SEATBELT CONTROL DEVICE
A seatbelt control device comprises a kinesthetic warning control part changing a tightness of a seatbelt against a seated passenger to kinesthetically warn the seated passenger. The kinesthetic warning control part is provided with a fitting operation part performing a fitting operation controlling a time for making the motor operate forward based on a motor current value when making the motor operate forward and controlling a belt tightness to an initial belt tightness, and a kinesthetic warning operation part performing a kinesthetic warning operation making the tightness of the seatbelt rise in stages from the initial belt tightness by repeating a forward operation making the motor operate forward and at least one operation of a braking operation short-circuiting the terminals of the motor to render the motor a short brake state or a reverse operation making the motor operate in reverse and is configured to perform the fitting operation before performing the kinesthetic warning operation.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING AN ACTUATABLE PROTECTION DEVICE WITH ROUGH TERRAIN AND AIRBORNE DETECTION
According to one aspect, a vehicle safety system includes an actuatable controlled restraint (ACR) comprising a seatbelt for restraining a vehicle occupant. The ACR is actuatable to control payout and retraction of the seatbelt. The system also includes a controller configured to determine operating conditions of the vehicle and to control the actuation of the ACR in response to the determined operating conditions of the vehicle. The ACR has a normal restraint condition and an enhanced restraint condition, the controller being configured to actuate the ACR from the normal restraint condition to the enhanced restraint condition in response to determining abnormal driving conditions of the vehicle.

LOAD-LIMITING ASSEMBLY FOR SEATBELT
An assembly includes a vehicle pillar elongated along an axis. The assembly includes seatbelt retractor and a webbing retractably extendable from the retractor. The seatbelt retractor is lockable from an unlocked position in which the webbing is extendable from and retractable into the retractor to a locked position in which the retractor restricts extension of the webbing from the retractor. The assembly includes a frame supported by the pillar and defining a slot elongated along the axis of the pillar. The slot has a terminal upper end. The assembly includes a seatbelt guide slideably engaged with the slot. The seatbelt retractor is below the seatbelt guide. The webbing extends upwardly from the seatbelt retractor around the seatbelt guide. The assembly includes a spring between the frame and the seatbelt guide. The spring biases the seatbelt guide against the terminal upper end of the slot.
