HEART RATE PLAYBACK MACHINE

Improvements in a heart rate playback machine to initially monitor heart rate of a person performs cardiovascular exercise. The heart rate is generally monitored by a chest strap that is placed around the chest of a user that transmits either the beats or the calculated heart rate. The heart rate can be received by a monitoring device, like a wrist or waist mounted device. The heart rate is recorded while the person is exercising. The machine then convert the heart rate into estimated loads of resistance, speed, elevation or other changes to simulate duplication of the heart rate. The machine uses a reverse algorithm to increase the resistance, speed or elevation prior to the recorded heart rate changes. The recorded heart rate, or the result of the algorithm, is then transportable or playable on the piece of exercise equipment. The exercise can be scaled to accommodate athletes of a different age or fitness level.

Linear powered input device
09772015 · 2017-09-26 · ·

A linear powered input device that utilizes linear input from a user and converts the linear input rotational energy to perform work. The linear input is generated by lever arms having a slotted attachment at a pivot point that allows a free end of the lever arms to move linearly rather than in an arcuate path. The lever arms are connected to a power transmission mechanism that wraps around one or more drive wheels having one-way bearings mounted on one or more output shafts. The output shafts can be connected to any type of auxiliary device to perform the desired work. Output wheels may be mounted on the output shafts and operatively connected by a transmission link that allows linear motion of any lever arm in any allowable direction to cause the output shaft to rotate in the same rotational direction so as to receive continuous input.

Exercise device utilizing body weight for resistance

An exercise device which includes a first and second lever pivotally attached to a frame and pivotally interconnected by a connecting rod. A first arm is pivotally connected to the frame and a second arm is pivotally connected to the ends of the first arm and the second lever opposite the ends connected to the frame. The second arm includes a seat for the user, whose body weight provides a resistance to rotation of the free end of the first lever. In one embodiment a slide assembly is engaged with the second lever to selectively vary the resistance to rotation of the first lever.

Apparatus for exercising the muscles

An apparatus for exercising the muscles, comprising a power arm having actuating elements at one end area, and where the other end of the power arm is pivotally connected to a holding element through a first hinge. The apparatus further comprises a spring element, wherein one end of the spring element is linked to the power arm at a first articulation point, and a second end of the spring element is linked to the holding element through a second articulation point. A support is further included which lies on an imaginary plane defined by an x-axis and a y-axis. The holding element is connected to the support by a rotary hinge which allows the holding element to rotate with respect to the support about a shaft which lies on an axis that is normal to the imaginary plane.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TRACKING, COLLECTING, AND ANALYZING USER DATA FOR GYMS
20170113096 · 2017-04-27 ·

Systems and methods are provided for tracking, collecting, or analyzing user data for gyms. For example, the system can include a mobile device associated with a user and a tracking device attached to an exercise device. The tracking device can be configured to detect when the mobile device or the user enters within a proximity value of the tracking device and notify the mobile device with a notification signal and identification information of the exercise device. The mobile device can be configured to receive the notification signal from the tracking device, detect a received signal strength (RSS) of the notification signal, and determine whether the RSS is above or at a pre-determined threshold. When the RSS is above or at the pre-determined threshold, the mobile device records the identification information of the exercise device. When the RSS is below the pre-determined threshold, the mobile device ignores the notification signal.

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a knee-position control system having a knee engagement pad, a lower-leg control member and an upper-leg control member, the knee engagement pad configured to naturally position a user's knee in response to movement of a foot-rest of a natural-gait therapy system. In an illustrative embodiment, the upper-leg control member may pivot about a point substantially axially coincident with a user's hip. In some embodiments, the upper-leg control member may be pivotally coupled to the lower-leg control member at a pivot point substantially axially coincident with a user's knee. The lower-leg control member may be pivotably coupled to the foot rest at a pivot point substantially axially coincident with a user's ankle. The knee-position control system may advantageously position a user's knee in a natural position relative to both the user's ankle and the user's hip, in response to movement of the user's foot.
