09818304 · 2017-11-14 · ·

An approach is provided for constructing a delivery path that enables a UAV to safely access a delivery surface and avoids restricted access surfaces from the open sky. The approach involves determining at least one delivery path to at least one delivery surface, wherein the delivery path represents at least one three-dimensional variable width path along which an aerial delivery vehicle can access the at least one delivery surface. The approach also involves transecting the delivery path with one or more planar surfaces. The approach further involves determining one or more shapes on the one or more planar surfaces, wherein the one or more shapes represent one or more intersections of the delivery path and the one or more planar surfaces. The approach also involves constructing at least one delivery path data object comprising at least one ordered list of the one or more shapes to represent the delivery path.

UAM corridor visual indication

A system for graphical indication of a corridor is disclosed. The system may include a display and a processor. The processor may be configured to receive corridor position data of a corridor and aircraft position data indicative of a position of an aircraft. The processor may also be configured to determine a relative distance of the aircraft in relation to the corridor based on the corridor position data and the aircraft position data. The processor may further be configured to display a corridor graphic associated with the corridor based on the relative distance.

COLLABORATIVE AVIATION INFORMATION COLLECTION AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

A collaborative aviation information collection and distribution system includes a plurality of aircraft data transmitters and an aircraft data processing system. Each aircraft data transmitter is configured to selectively transmit aircraft data associated with a subscribing aircraft. The aircraft data processing system is in operable communication with each of the aircraft data transmitters and includes a data receiver, a data transmitter, and a data processor. The data receiver receives aircraft data transmitted from each of the aircraft transmitters. The data transmitter selectively transmits actionable aircraft data to one or more of the subscribing aircraft or subscribing ground-based users. The data processor determines which of, and when, the one or more subscribing aircraft or subscribing ground-based users should receive actionable aircraft data, generates actionable aircraft data from at least a portion of the received aircraft data, and supplies the generated actionable aircraft data to the data transmitter for transmission.

AIRCRAFT TURBULENCE DETECTION

A warning method for an aircraft includes receiving a first parameter indicative of an aircraft's flight path, calculating a stable approach value based on the first parameter, receiving a second parameter indicative of the aircraft's turbulence, calculating a turbulence factor based on the second parameter, calculating a safe landing value based on the stable approach value and the turbulence factor, comparing the safe landing value to a threshold value, and providing an aircraft warning when the safe landing value fails to meet the threshold value.

Aircraft control systems

A method of controlling an aircraft in the event of pilot incapacity includes detecting, using at least one sensor, the occurrence of an event relating to a pilot's capacity to control the aircraft, determining whether the event justifies a controlled takeover of the aircraft from the pilot, asserting a controlled takeover of the aircraft from the pilot if it has been determined that a controlled takeover is justified, and executing a controlled landing of the aircraft without assistance of the pilot.
