Methods and Systems for Detecting Whether a Seat Belt is Used in a Vehicle
A computer implemented method for detecting whether a seat belt is used in a vehicle comprises the following steps carried out by computer hardware components: acquiring an image of an interior of the vehicle; determining a plurality of sub-images based on the image; detecting, for at least one of the sub-images, whether a portion of the seat belt is present in the respective sub-image; and determining whether the seat belt is used based on the detecting.
IN-VEHICLE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
An in-vehicle communication system includes a master control unit mounted on a vehicle, a plurality of slave devices mounted on the vehicle, a plurality of buckles provided in association with each of a plurality of seats mounted on the vehicle, and at least one switch unit configured to generate a signal in accordance with an attachment and detachment state of at least one of the plurality of buckles. The master control unit is communicably connected to each of the slave devices. The master control unit controls the plurality of slave devices based on the signal generated by the at least one switch unit.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO IMPROVE CHILD RESTRAINT INSTALLATION DETECTION
An automotive vehicle includes a body having a passenger compartment, an anchorage system for securing a child restraint disposed in the passenger compartment, the anchorage system including a latchable bar member, a child restraint installation system coupled to the anchorage system, the child restraint installation system including a trigger member, a sensor contact member, a compression member, a retaining member, and a sensor, and at least one controller in communication with the sensor, the at least one controller being configured to, in response to satisfaction of a first operating condition, generate a first notification signal and, in response to satisfaction of a second operating condition, generate a second notification signal.
Improper seatbelt usage detection
A system for detecting improper usage of a seatbelt of a vehicle includes a vehicle seat having a seat cushion and a seat back. A shoulder belt and a lap belt are intended to restrain an occupant sitting on the vehicle seat. The system includes a sensor module associated with the shoulder belt and the lap belt. The sensor module generates signals indicative of at least one parameter associated with the vehicle seat, the shoulder belt, and the lap belt when the occupant is sitting on the vehicle seat. The system also includes a controller that receives the signals indicative of the at least one parameter associated with the seat back, the shoulder belt, and the lap belt. The controller analyzes the received one or more signals, and determines whether the seatbelt is being used improperly by the occupant, based on the analysis.
Monitoring System for Unattended Children in Child Seats
A system for monitoring and generating warnings of situations in which a safety harness of an infant carrier, car set, stroller, or other type of child safety seat is left in a buckled state, which comprises a warning apparatus with a lower portion that fits around a lower buckle of a safety harness and has a flap extending from one side of the lower portion that, once an upper buckle of the once attached to the lower buckle, can be placed by a caregiver across the top of the upper to buckle and attached to the lower portion to cause the state of a wireless transmitter to change.
VEHICLE SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME
The vehicle system includes an output device, a plurality of rear seats, a plurality of belt buckle sensors provided on each of the plurality of rear seats, a plurality of seat belt reminder (SBR) sensors provided on each of the plurality of rear seats, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine one rear seat on which a passenger or an object having a weight equal to or less than a predetermined weight is located based on an output value of the SBR sensor, determine whether a seat belt corresponding to the determined rear seat is worn based on an output value of the belt buckle sensor, and control the output device to output a warning message when the vehicle is turned off and a door of the rear seat is not opened or closed in a state in which the seat belt is worn.
COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND SEAT UNIT
A communication system includes a seat unit mounted on a seat of a vehicle and operating by an electrical power supplied from a battery, and a vehicle unit that wirelessly communicates with the seat unit, and transmits a start command. The seat unit receives the start command in a standby state in which a power consumption is lower than a normal state, and then the seat unit switches from the standby state to the normal state. After that, the seat unit transmits an information on an electronic device mounted on the seat, in the normal state. According to the communication system, the seat unit switches from the standby state to the normal state, only when the vehicle unit transmits the start command. Therefore, battery life can be extended.
SEATBELT DEVICE
An inclination controlling mechanism of a seatbelt device is provided with: a pulley that converts an advancing/retracting movement of a cable of the cable advancing/retracting mechanism; a drive gear mounted around a pivot shaft of the pulley and synchronized with rotation of the pulley; and a driven gear mounted around a pivot shaft of a sensor housing so as to move in conjunction with a rotation of the sensor housing. The drive gear and driven gear engage with each other in a condition where a rotational track surface of the drive gear and rotational track surface of the driven gear intersect at a predetermined angle. As a result, an inertial body supporting surface serving as a sensor reference plane can be accurately maintained horizontally even at an arbitrary seatback recline angle, and thus the accuracy of the acceleration sensor can be improved.
SUBMARINING AVOIDANCE SYSTEM
Aspects of the disclosure relate to reducing the likelihood of injury to a passenger in a collision. In one example, a system for reducing the likelihood of a passenger submarining, may include a restraining device for restraining the passenger. A second restraining device for further restraining the passenger may also be included in the system. A locking mechanism may be configured to prevent a seat back from reclining when the second restraining device is not activated.
CHILD SAFETY SEAT WITH A MOTORIZED HARNESS BELT TENSIONER
The invention relates to a child safety seat (100) comprising an integral harness belt (102) for restraining a child in the child safety seat (100), a belt tension monitor (106) adapted for monitoring a belt tension acting on the harness belt (102), a motorized harness belt tensioner (104) comprising a tensioning element (114) driven by an electromechanical actuator (122) and adapted for adjusting the belt tension acting on the harness belt (102), and a controller adapted for controlling the motorized harness belt tensioner (104) to adjust the belt tension to match a first predefined belt tension and for monitoring the resulting belt tension using the belt tension monitor (106).
