After authenticating at least one functional component which is safety-relevant and/or emission-relevant to the driving mode of the motor vehicle with regard to whether the functional component is an original component of the motor vehicle or a functional component which has been replaced without authorization and/or has been manipulated without authorization, the operation of at least one other functional component of the motor vehicle is controlled in such a manner that the functionality or at least one functionality of the at least one other functional component is selectively restricted if the authentication which has been carried out reveals that the at least one functional component which is safety-relevant and/or emission-relevant to the driving mode of the motor vehicle has been replaced without authorization and/or has been manipulated without authorization.

MOTOR VEHICLE STEERING LOCK

A motor vehicle steering lock includes a housing in which is disposed a lock cylinder including a selector shaft which can assume various rotational positions. An adjustment element of an ignition switch is movably coupled to the selector shaft and triggers a desired function of the motor vehicle depending upon the rotational position of the selector shaft. The selector shaft and the adjustment element are connected for a conjoint rotation via an intermediate compensating element that allows for a movement of the selector shaft in relation to the adjustment element in a first axis direction oriented radial to a longitudinal axis of the selector shaft and a movement of the adjustment element in relation to the selector shaft in a second axis direction perpendicular to the first axis direction.

Steering lock device

A steering lock device includes a camshaft including a shaft portion having an axis, a lock actuation cam that radially projects from a first position of the shaft portion in an axial direction, and a projection that radially projects from a second position of the shaft portion in the axial direction; a housing rotatably accommodating the camshaft; and a lock bar moved by the lock actuation cam in a locking direction or an unlocking direction when the camshaft is rotated about the axis when a key cylinder is operated by a mechanical key. When the lock bar locks the steering shaft, the camshaft is configured so that the projection is separated from the shaft portion if a load exceeding a predetermined strength acts on the projection of the camshaft. The predetermined strength rotates the lock actuation cam to disengage the lock bar from the steering shaft.

In the event shutdown conditions are met and the key is not in the ignition, the controller warns operator of impending shutdown. The controller intercepts the ignition key signal and simulates the vehicle key to be in the run position such that vehicle functions are operable as if key is in run position. The controller shuts down engine. The method may also include the steps of: the controller intercepting the ignition key signal and simulating the vehicle key to be in the accessory position such that vehicle functions are operable as if key is in accessory position.

SECURITY MONITORING SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE

The delay mode is configured to delay translation of the storage compartment from the locked state to the unlocked state in response to a security event.
