Exercise Device
The invention relates to a device (100) for performing exercises, comprising a housing (105), a deviation sensor (140) for detecting a deviation of said housing (105) from an equilibrium, and a control unit (110) coupled to said deviation sensor (140) arranged to count deviations from the equilibrium.
Human Musculoskeletal Support and Training System Methods and Devices
A Trunk Support Trainer (TruST) is a dynamic device that trains subjects to improve strength and coordination of the upper body, while seated, and facilitates the trunk to safely move beyond the region of stability. In embodiments, the device creates an assist-as-needed force field to support postures beyond stable sitting positions.
Apparatus for training dynamic balance and turning manoeuvres during walking
The object of the invention is an apparatus suited for individuals in training dynamic balance and turning maneuvers while walking, said apparatus allowing said maneuvers while an individual is standing, walking on a flat surface or walking on a treadmill that can rotate around a vertical axis of the treadmill. To serve this purpose, the apparatus of the invention is provided with a base platform (1), in which two universal joints (2,2) are arranged that are connected with a pelvis element (5) with two vertical rods (3,3) or vertically adjustable rods (30,30) via conventional spherical joints (4,4), and the universal joints (2,2) have two degrees of freedom that can further be provided by drives (6,7,8).
Method and Devices for Enhancing Speed, Stride, and Balance While Walking and/or Running
The method for engaging a person's sensorimotor complex includes providing a pair of lightweight sticks of equal length and weight; measuring a shoulder width from a first shoulder blade acromion of the person to a second shoulder blade acromion of the person; selecting from the plurality of devices a first lightweight stick and a second lightweight stick each having a length approximately equal to the width from the first shoulder blade acromion of the person to the second shoulder blade acromion of the person; grasping the first and second lightweight sticks with a respective first and second hands at a grasping position along the stick that is one shoulder width from a distal end of the stick; swinging the first and second hands back and forth between a first position and a second position; and walking while swinging the first and second hands back and forth.
Fitness system and method
A training device or apparatus for improving performance speed. In one embodiment, the training device includes first and second surfaces disposed in an opposing manner and defining a space therebetween. The space can allow at least one body part of an athlete to cyclically travel between the first and second surfaces in a plane that intersects both of the first and second surfaces. The athlete can be supported such that the body part is substantially free from external resistance along a direction of travel within the plane. In this way, repeated movement of a body part can occur between the first and second surfaces without fatiguing muscles due to external resistance, thereby lengthening the duration of the training session. The at least one body part can include the feet of the athlete.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR BODY WEIGHT SUPPORT SYSTEM
A body weight support system includes a tether configured to be coupled to an attachment device worn by a user to couple the user to the body weight support system. A method of providing gait training includes defining a reference length of the tether when the attachment device is in an initial position and defining a threshold length of the tether. A first amount of body weight support is provided during the gait training as the user moves relative to a surface and the length of the tether is less than the threshold length. A second amount of body weight support is provided during the gait training as the user moves relative to the surface and the length of the tether is greater than the threshold length. The method further includes displaying data associated with the gait training on a display of an electronic device.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DEVICE
A device and method for alleviating extremity pain and improving range of motion using a mobile mirror with functional activity attachments. Secured symmetrical functional objects for manipulation are positioned either along side, in front, or on the mirror itself. The individual looks at the reflection of the non-affected extremity manipulating the functional attachment while both extremities perform the activity. The occupational therapy device is simple to use and can relocate to either tabletop or floor. The large mirror accommodates longer arms and legs for improved visual field and can be rotated for either vertical or horizontal orientation.
EXERCISE TRAINING SYSTEM
An exercise training system is provided having a system controller and a plurality of stimulant target units connected via a wireless network to the system controller. Each stimulant target unit has a light source providing light to stimulate a user, a proximity sensor providing an output of a distance between the proximity sensor and an object external to the unit, and means for providing feedback to the user to signal that the unit has been actuated by the user. The system controller includes a program for activating the stimulant target units in a sequence. The reaction by the user to the illumination is registered when the user brings a body part or other object to within a selected distance of the proximity sensor, this distance being programmable by the user.
Oral cavity function training tool
An exercise tool 1 for improving oral function inserted and used in an oral cavity includes: a base 10 inserted in the oral cavity; and a hollow bulge 20 which is made of an elastic body and protrudes from the base 10. Level difference portions 41-43 and 51-53 are provided in a vertically intermediate region of at least one of an outer surface and an inner surface of the bulge 20.
Hand manipulating device and methods of making and using same
A hand manipulation device and methods of making and using which include a plurality of rails and connectors that are interconnected to allow the user to push and/or pull on the device so that the connectors slide along the rails. In this manner, the hand manipulating device provides an ability for the user to perform various therapeutic exercises with his/her hands and fingers. Additionally, the hand manipulation device can be equipped with elastomeric bands that can be used to provide an additional elastic force in order to further exercise the user's hands and fingers.
