A balance training system including a mobile plate configured to support a sole of a trainee in a standing state, a first member fixed on the mobile plate, a load distribution sensor including a plurality of sensors arranged in a matrix under the mobile plate and configured to detect a load received from the trainee riding on the mobile plate and a position of the first member, and a control unit configured to calculate a net moving amount of a center of gravity position of the trainee based on a difference between a moving amount of a center of gravity position of the load received from the trainee detected by the load distribution sensor and a moving amount of the position of the first member detected by the load distribution sensor and to control a movement of the mobile plate based on a result of the calculation.
TREADMILLS WITH OBSTACLES AND METHODS OF USE
A treadmill may be configured for gait training and/or therapy with attachable/detachable barriers affixable to a belt and/or with a vertical obstacle module and/or with sensor systems, but without requiring hoists, harnesses, attachments to the treadmill or base, or frame, and/or excessively high treadmill frames, such as those that exceed the height of the person on the treadmill. The barriers on the belt are configured to modify movement of only one foot of a person on the treadmill. The treadmill may use a single, integral belt. Methods of gait training and/or therapy may involve such treadmills without excessive expense and without excessive modification of standard treadmill equipment.
PELVIS CONTROL AND RETRAINING HARNESS SYSTEM AND METHOD
A harness system is described for rehabilitating and retraining a patient, such as that may be experiencing neurological disorders, through controlling a patient's pelvis and/or body. Rehabilitation and retraining exercises may be facilitated for patients carrying out routine daily activities. An illustrative system may include a pelvic harness, a trainer's/therapist's belt, a pelvis support strap, a lumbar thoracic belt, thigh cuffs, a knee-ankle support system, ankle cuffs, and straps. Also provided is a method for rehabilitating and retraining a patient using an improved pelvis control system.
TARGET-BASED TRAINING SYSTEM
A target-based training system that includes two or more participant stations that are arranged in a circuit and that each provide a target-based training activity. Each participant station includes one or more targets that are engaged through physical strikes. One or more sensors are associated with each of the one or more targets that capture engagement data related to a participant's physical strikes on the target. A computer is configured to receive engagement data and to generate a score based on the engagement data with the two or more participant stations.

The subject invention is directed to a method of exercising the human body comprising the steps of executing a training program on a floor mat consisting of a multiplicity of boxes arranged in horizontal rows and vertical columns to form a checker board pattern of boxes on the surface of the floor mat with only one box located in common at the intersection between each horizontal row and each vertical column with each of the multiple boxes being equal in size and adapted to accommodate the foot size of substantially any person exercising on the floor mat such that the location of each foot on the floor mat will correspond to substantially only one coordinate box position with little or no overlapping, with said method comprising the steps of: using a human individual or a recording machine to execute the training program by calling out a sequence of steps corresponding to at least the movement of one leg of the person exercising on the floor mat relative to the other leg which is held stationary so that the moving leg moves from one specified coordinate box position on the floor mat to another specified coordinate box position, with each leg movement selected from the group consisting of a forward leg movement, a backward leg movement, a lateral forward or lateral backward leg movement and a rotational leg movement, and with each step being called out in a predetermined consecutive sequence corresponding to, at least, the leg movements of the person exercising on the floor mat with at least one of the steps, or a consecutive combination of the steps, in said sequence requiring the moving leg to cause the body and/or pelvis of the person exercising on the floor mat to rotate, at least partially, relative to the non-moving leg and in unison with the rotation of the body such that the person exercising on the floor mat forms a pattern of movements corresponding to movements of the person in their everyday lifestyle integral to his or her occupation or to a pattern of movements corresponding to a given gym exercise or for simulating a given sport.
MODULAR PHYSICAL THERAPY APPARATUS
A modular group therapy matrix apparatus includes tubular grip bars positioned in parallel longitudinal rows and transverse tubular grip bars which span between the rows. The grip bars are interconnected by a plurality of upright supports. Each upright support includes spring loaded snap couplings which are received within the ends of the hollow grip bars and which engage apertures in the grip bars to facilitate easy assembly and disassembly of the matrix. Physical therapy patients may grasp the grip bars, which comprises the outer periphery of the matrix, to perform exercises. A physical therapist or trainer may be positioned within the matrix to demonstrate exercises.
TRAINING DEVICE FOR CHEWING AND SWALLOWING
The training device for chewing and swallowing can be used by patients who have difficulty chewing and/or swallowing to assist them to learn how to chew and swallow. The device includes a bolus delivery cylinder and a plunger. The bolus delivery cylinder can include a cylindrical housing having a peripheral wall and a hollow interior. The plunger can be slidably received in the cylindrical housing and secured thereto. In some embodiments the peripheral wall can be perforated. The interior of the housing is configured to accommodate small pieces of food. The bolus delivery cylinder can be made from a transparent, flexible material, such as silicon.
AGILITY TRAINING LADDER
An agility training ladder may include a plurality of frame bodies, and each of the frame bodies has a first board and a second board. Each of the first board and the second board has two connecting members respectively at two ends thereof. Each of the first boards comprises two first connecting ribs at two lateral surfaces thereof while each of the second boards has two second connecting ribs at two lateral surfaces thereof. Each of the connecting members comprises two third connecting ribs at two lateral surfaces thereof and two first connecting recesses at two ends thereof, and the first connecting recesses are communicated with the lateral surfaces of the connecting members. The first boards and the second boards are connected through the connecting members, and the first connecting recess is adapted to slide along to the first, second or third connecting rib.
Systems and Methods for Detecting Running and Walking Strides and Foot Strikes
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for measuring the location, the amplitude, and/or the direction of forces applied to a walking or running surface. An example system includes a pressure-sensitive sheet that extends along a first axis. The pressure-sensitive sheet includes a top surface and a bottom surface. A vertical force applied at a location along at least one of the top surface or the bottom surface forms an electrical path between the top surface and the bottom surface having a resistance, r.sub.f, that is inversely proportional to an amplitude of the vertical force. The system further includes read out circuitry configured to provide information indicative of the amplitude of the vertical force and the location of the vertical force along the first axis of the pressure-sensitive sheet.
