An exercise device is described. An exercise device includes a body, the body having a top, a bottom, a first end located at one edge of the body, a second end located at an opposite edge of the body, and first and second sides extending between the first and second ends; one or more wheels; and an energy storage device applying resistive and restoring force to the one or more wheels. Optionally, a shaft can be present that rotationally locks two or more of the wheels.

An elongated deck has a lower surface with a lengthwise recess configured to receive ground-contacting apparatus enabling a user to practice balancing on the board while standing on the upper surface of the deck. The ground-contacting apparatus may be balls of different sizes, rolling pins, or inserts with rollers, wheels, or non-rotating skateboard trucks. The inserts may have a peripheral edge that corresponds to the peripheral outline of the recess, and may be held in position using hook-and-loop fasteners, magnetic elements, or fasteners that extend through the insert and the deck.

The platforms provide multiple support surfaces at multiple elevations on which exercisers can position parts of their bodies during exercise. The platforms may be provided with positioning indices and provide continuous support surfaces over substantially the entire length of the exercise machine. The central platform may be provided with finger grips for exercisers to grasp. One or more mounting platforms may be provided to facilitate mounting and dismounting of the exercise machine.
