Leveraging rear-view sensors for automatic emergency braking in autonomous machine applications
In various examples, activation criteria and/or braking profiles corresponding to automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems and/or collision mitigation warning (CMW) systems may be determined using sensor data representative of an environment to a front, side, and/or rear of a vehicle. For example, activation criteria for triggering an AEB system and/or CMW system may be adjusted by leveraging the availability of additional information with regards to the surrounding environment of a vehicle—such as the presence of a trailing vehicle. In addition, the braking profile for the AEB activation may be adjusted based on information about the presence of and/or location of vehicles to the front, rear, and/or side of the vehicle. By adjusting the activation criteria and/or braking profiles of an AEB system, the potential for collisions with dynamic objects in the environment is reduced and the overall safety of the vehicle and its passengers is increased.
AIRCRAFT AND FLIGHT CONTROLLER FOR AIRCRAFT
A vehicle control apparatus includes a contact detector, an attitude stabilization processor, and a steering intention determining unit. The contact detector is configured to detect a contact of a vehicle with an object. The attitude stabilization processor is configured to execute an attitude stabilization control that generates a yaw moment at a vehicle body on the basis of a deviation between a target yaw rate and an actual yaw rate. The steering intention determining unit is configured to determine a presence of a driver's intention to perform steering. The attitude stabilization processor is configured to stop the generation of the yaw moment by the attitude stabilization control or reduce the yaw moment to be generated by the attitude stabilization control, in a case where the steering intention determining unit determines that the driver's intention to perform the steering is absent after the detection of the contact by the contact detector.
Vehicle control device
A vehicle control apparatus includes a time-to-collision acquisition unit that acquires time to collision that is a time period until a time of collision of an own vehicle with a front obstacle, an overlap rate acquisition unit that acquires an overlap rate indicating a relative positional relationship between the own vehicle and the front obstacle in a lateral direction perpendicular to a traveling direction of the own vehicle, a determination unit that performs execution determination of automatic braking control of the own vehicle, on the basis of the time to collision and the overlap rate, and that, when the overlap rate is increasing by the front obstacle approaching the own vehicle in the lateral direction, determines start timing of the automatic braking control as earlier timing than when the overlap rate is not increasing, and an automatic controller that executes the automatic braking control at the start timing.
BRAKING CONTROL APPARATUS
A braking control apparatus is configured to control braking force to be generated by a braking device of a vehicle. The braking control apparatus includes a contact detector and a braking control unit. The contact detector is configured to detect a contact of the vehicle. The braking control unit is configured to perform a post-crash braking control that generates the braking force in response to that the contact detector detects the contact and thereby decelerates the vehicle, and cancel the post-crash braking control in a case where an amount of operation of an accelerator operation device of the vehicle is increased and decreased in a predetermined pattern, in which the accelerator operation device is configured to receive an accelerator operation to be performed by a driver who drives the vehicle.
Method and control unit for activating an emergency braking function of a vehicle
A method for activating an emergency braking function of a vehicle. At least one restraint unit is activated in the process for restraining at least one occupant of the vehicle in response to an identification of an imminent triggering of the emergency braking function, using at least one sensor signal of at least one sensor of the vehicle. The triggering of the emergency braking function takes place when the restraint unit is activated.
Emergency braking system of a single-track vehicle
An emergency braking system of a single-track vehicle configured to intervene in a braking process of the single-track vehicle includes a plurality of sensors that determine various physical variables. From the physical variables an accident risk actual value is determined, compared with an accident risk target value using an emergency braking system control unit, and if the accident risk actual value exceeds the accident risk target value, the single-track vehicle's brake is actuated by the emergency braking system control unit.
Vehicle control device, method and computer program product
A vehicle control device includes an oncoming vehicle detection sensor and a controller that automatically applies brakes to avoid a collision with the oncoming vehicle, under a condition that the own vehicle is at least partially in an opposite lane or a planned path of the own vehicle is at least partially in the opposite lane. The controller sets a virtual area that moves with the oncoming vehicle and that extends in an advancing direction of the oncoming vehicle, and automatically brakes to avoid to avoid a collision. In response to the sensor detecting first and second oncoming vehicles, the controller sets first and second virtual areas, and automatically brakes the own vehicle to prevent coming into contact with the first virtual area and the second virtual area once the own vehicle traverses the opposite lane.
Vehicular collision avoidance system
A vehicular collision avoidance system includes a forward-viewing camera viewing through the windshield at least forward of the equipped vehicle, a rearward-sensing radar sensor sensing at least rearward of the equipped vehicle, and an electronic control unit. The vehicular collision avoidance system detects vehicles present forward and/or rearward of the equipped vehicle. Responsive to data processing of radar data captured by the rearward-sensing radar sensor, the vehicular collision avoidance system detects another vehicle approaching the equipped vehicle from the rear, determines distance between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle, and determines speed difference between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle. Based at least in part on the determined distance between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle and the determined speed difference between the equipped vehicle and the other vehicle, the vehicular collision avoidance system controls the equipped vehicle to mitigate impact by the other vehicle.
Posture information based pedestrian detection and pedestrian collision prevention apparatus and method
An apparatus for operating a pedestrian detection and collision mitigation system (PDCMS) of a vehicle is provided. The apparatus includes a front detection sensor that detects a pedestrian in a driving lane of the vehicle and a distance and a relative speed between the pedestrian and the vehicle. A vehicle sensor detects a vehicle speed and a controller executes the PDCMS function based on information detected by the front detection sensor and the vehicle sensor. A warning unit then outputs a notification to a driver regarding a collision of the pedestrian with the vehicle.

A vehicle control device includes an oncoming vehicle detection sensor that detects an oncoming vehicle approaching an own vehicle; and a controller configured to automatically apply brakes to the own vehicle to avoid a collision with the oncoming vehicle, detected by the oncoming vehicle detection sensor, under a condition that the own vehicle is at least partially in an opposite lane or a planned path of the own vehicle is at least partially in the opposite lane. The controller is further configured to set, between the own vehicle and the oncoming vehicle, a virtual area that moves with the oncoming vehicle and that extends toward the own vehicle using a rear end of the oncoming vehicle as a base point, and automatically brake the own vehicle to avoid the own vehicle coming into contact with the virtual area to avoid the collision between the own vehicle and the oncoming vehicle.
