A system includes an autonomous vehicle (AV) configured to travel along a road and a control device communicatively coupled to the AV. The control device determines that the AV should move from a current lane of the road to an adjacent lane of the road. The control device determines two or more candidate windows into which the AV may move in the adjacent lane. Each candidate window corresponds to a space in the adjacent lane between two vehicles traveling in the adjacent lane. The control device determines that the AV should move into a first candidate window, and, in response to this determination, causes the AV to begin moving along a trajectory leading to the first candidate window (e.g., by accelerating or decelerating).

In one embodiment, a method includes determining an initial cost volume associated with a plurality of potential trajectories of a vehicle in an environment based on a set of movement restrictions of the vehicle, generating a delta cost volume using the initial cost volume and environment data associated with the environment, wherein the delta cost volume is generated by determining adjustments to the initial cost volume that incorporate observed driving behavior, and scoring a trajectory of the plurality of potential trajectories for the vehicle based on t the initial cost volume and the delta cost volume.

The setting unit is configured to, on a condition that the own vehicle travels to follow a preceding vehicle, and that the acquiring unit has acquired the position information of the temporary stopping location, make a setting change to make the target inter-vehicle distance greater than a normal setting value when a distance from the own vehicle to the temporary stopping location reaches a predetermined distance, and make a setting change to bring the target inter-vehicle distance closer to the normal setting value in accordance with the distance until the own vehicle reaches the temporary stopping location.

A vehicle control method for executing a sailing stop control when a drive source stop condition is established while a vehicle is traveling. The sailing stop control stops a drive source of the vehicle and releases an engaging element provided between the drive source and a drive wheel such that the vehicle travels under inertia. The vehicle control method acquires information on a road on which the vehicle will travel, and then determines whether there is a section on a route where the sailing stop control can be executed based on the information. Upon determining a section exist capable of the sailing stop control, the vehicle control method estimates a power shortage amount, which is a shortage amount of power during sailing stop control, based on the information, and charges a battery with power required to cover the power shortage amount prior to starting the sailing stop control.

An autonomous driving control system of a vehicle includes a processor, a navigation, and a driving controller communicatively connected to one another. The processor is configured to estimate a charging amount of a power source that drives a driving device of a vehicle. The navigation is configured to set a driving route based on a destination and to search for a charging station for the power source based on the set driving route. The processor is further configured to determine a charging strategy of the power source based on the estimated charging amount of the power source, the driving route set by the navigation, and the searched charging station. The driving controller is configured to control driving of the vehicle based on the driving route set by the navigation and the determined charging strategy.

ROUTE OPTIMIZATION FOR VEHICLES

In some implementations, a route selection system obtains a first scheduled time for a first event at a venue for a passenger of an autonomous vehicle. The system determines whether the autonomous vehicle will arrive at the venue by the first scheduled time. The system obtains, in response to a determination that the autonomous vehicle will not arrive at the venue by the first scheduled time, a second scheduled time for a second event at the venue. The system determines a route to the venue based on one or more preferences of the passenger, one or more preferences of an operator of the autonomous vehicle, or any combination thereof, wherein the determined route is configured for arrival of the passenger at the venue after the first scheduled time and at or within a time period before the second scheduled time.
