The present invention extends to a carabiner intended for use as an adjustable anchor or a belay device. In general, implementations include a carabiner that includes a frame defining a hole and a gate. More specifically, implementations include a carabiner having a spine with an elongated slot portion having a first slot wall and a second slot wall that define a hole through the spine of the frame. Additionally, some implementations include a carabiner kit with a first carabiner having an elongated slot portion on the spine, a second carabiner, a pinching mechanism formed by linking the first and second carabiners together, and a rope that goes through the elongated slot portion, around the second carabiner, and back out the elongated slot portion of the first carabiner to enable the pinching mechanism to selectively pinch the rope for use as an adjustable anchor or a belay device.

SYSTEMS FOR PROTECTING CLIMBING DEVICES
20210308529 · 2021-10-07 ·

A system for protecting a climbing device from contacting a wall includes a barrier device defining an eyelet, an anchor anchored to the wall, and a cord. The barrier device is configured to wrap around the climbing device such that the barrier device extends between climbing device and the wall and forms a sleeve that encircles the climbing device. The barrier device protects the climbing device from the wall. The cord extends through the eyelet and is coupled to the barrier device and the anchor such that the barrier device is anchored to the wall and in a desired position relative to the wall. The barrier device is configured to move relative to the climbing device, and the cord limits movement of the barrier device relative to the climbing device.

Disclosed is an anchor for rock or similar material, and methods therefor. The anchor has a hinged base, which base consists of at least a pair of pivotally connected wings, the wings able to pivot about at least one longitudinal axis between, a first position in a closed state and a second position in an open state, the open state having a dimension between opposing parts of each wing that is greater than when in the closed state. A locking mechanism locks the wings in either the first position, or the second position. A connecting portion adapted to enable a load to be connected to the anchor connects to the hinged base, the connecting portion having a loading axis which is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. The anchor can be set between either the first position, or the second position, and then anchored to enable a load to be connected thereto.
