Provided are systems and methods for enclosing an energy source of a material handling vehicle. The systems and methods include an enclosure having a front wall, a rear wall, and an interior compartment, an inlet channel integrally formed with the front wall and in fluid communication with the interior compartment, the air inlet channel defined by an inlet louver and an inlet flange, an outlet channel integrally formed with the rear wall and in fluid communication with the interior compartment, the air outlet channel defined by an outlet louver and an outlet flange, one or more energy source cells positioned within the interior compartment; and a cooling fan in fluid communication with the inlet channel and the interior compartment. The cooling fan operates to draw air through the inlet channel to the interior compartment such that air within the interior compartment is expelled out of the outlet channel.

VEHICLE-INITIATED CADENCED OPERATOR INTERACTION

A vehicle-initiated cadenced operator interaction system introduces an operational concept to a vehicle operator via a machine-initiated interaction. Thereafter, interaction is initiated by the industrial vehicle according to a cadence that provides a gap between interactions so that the operator can demonstrate the behavior associated with the introduced concept. The vehicle controller actively analyzes industrial vehicle data associated with the content of the interaction(s), and evaluates the data against pre-defined operational criteria to determine whether the operator is demonstrating the appropriate skill/behavior associated with the interaction(s). Responsive to the operator's demonstrated ability, the system can modify operation of the vehicle to tune the industrial vehicle to the operator. The system can also extend to the operating environment, by interacting with electronic devices, vehicles, machines, etc., in the operating environment to tune the environment to the operator.

A target engine speed is selected based upon the inputs, and the engine and continuously variable transmission ratio are controlled to achieve the target engine speed while controlling the vehicle according to the inputs. In some embodiments, the control strategy further selects the target engine speed according to accessory system demands, such as a hoist or lift system.

Example systems and methods are disclosed for implementing vehicle operation limits to prevent vehicle load failure during vehicle teleoperation. The method may include receiving sensor data from sensors on a vehicle that carries a load. The vehicle may be controlled by a remote control system. The load weight and dimensions may be determined based on the sensor data. In order to prevent a vehicle load failure, a forward velocity limit and an angular velocity limit may be calculated. Vehicle load failures may include the vehicle tipping over, the load tipping over, the load sliding off of the vehicle, or collisions. The vehicle carrying the load may be restricted from exceeding the forward velocity limit and/or the angular velocity limit during vehicle operation. The remote control system may display a user interface indicating to a remote operator the forward velocity limit and the angular velocity limit.

Position assistance system for a materials handling vehicle

A materials handling vehicle includes a power unit, a load handling assembly and a positioning assistance system that provides assistance to an operator that is driving the vehicle. The assistance provided by the positioning assistance system includes at least one of an audible, tactile, or visual cue to indicate at least one of: a distance from the vehicle to a boundary object; or a heading of the vehicle with respect to the boundary object.

A method is disclosed for controlling a change in the direction of travel of a working vehicle between forward travel and rearward travel or vice versa. The working vehicle has an electronically controllable hydrostatic travel drive, a power-operated brake system with at least one electronically controllable brake circuit, and an electronic brake-control unit for controlling the travel drive and the brake circuit. While the vehicle is traveling in a first direction, a change in the direction of travel is triggered by a switchover of the hydrostatic travel drive by means of an assigned manual operating element. To reduce the mechanical loading, the deceleration of the working vehicle can be assisted by automatically actuating the brakes of the electronically controllable brake circuit, where these brakes are actuated by being triggered by the switchover of the operating element and are released by the time the vehicle comes to a standstill.

A braking system of an industrial vehicle includes an accumulator accumulating hydraulic oil, a hydraulic oil cooler cooling the hydraulic oil, an electromagnetic switch valve switching between an oil channel for the accumulator that allows supplying the hydraulic oil from a hydraulic pump to the accumulator and an oil channel for the hydraulic cooler that allows supplying the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic pump to the hydraulic oil cooler, and a controller controlling the electromagnetic switch valve to switch from the oil channel for the hydraulic cooler to the oil channel for the accumulator with timing of an increase after a drop in an engine speed when a cargo-handling operation is detected while an oil is at a setting pressure value or less and while the engine speed is at a setting engine speed or less.
