Vehicle speed and coasting control method and system
A method and a system for controlling a cruise control and a transmission in a vehicle over the course of a road section, wherein prior to the road section, the vehicle has applied coasting and utilizes the cruise control. A reference speed v.sub.ref utilized in the cruise control during the coasting is lowered to a lowest permitted speed v.sub.min defined for the road section if the lowering is deemed applicable. A comparison of a drive force F.sub.dd requested from an engine system in the vehicle with a threshold value F.sub.lim for the drive force is also carried out. The coasting is then suspended if the requested drive force F.sub.dd exceeds the threshold value F.sub.lim for the drive force.
Self-propelling work machine and method for braking such a work machine
The application describes a self-propelling work machine, in the form of a truck, having an electric drive comprising at least one electric motor, a generator drivable by an internal combustion engine for the power supply of the electric drive, and a braking apparatus for braking the work machine, wherein the braking apparatus provides a regenerative braking by the electric drive and a feedback apparatus for feeding back electrical motor braking power of the electric motor to the generator to apply the motor braking power on the internal combustion engine. The application further describes a method for braking the work machine. A braking control apparatus is provided for an automatic connection of a mechanical brake in dependence on the motor braking power fed back to the internal combustion engine and/or in dependence on the operating state of the internal combustion engine acted on by the fed back motor braking power.

Transporter vehicle, dump truck, and transporter vehicle control method
A transporter vehicle includes: a traveling device changing a traveling direction so that one state of a linear movement state and a non-linear movement state changes to the other state thereof; a setting unit setting a determination value related to a change amount in the traveling direction from the linear movement state; a collision prevention system including an object detection device detecting an object in front of the vehicle and a collision determination unit determining a possibility of a collision with the object based on a detection result of the object detection device, the collision prevention system performing a process for reducing damage caused by the collision with the object; and an invalidation unit invalidating at least a part of a process of the collision prevention system based on the determination value and a detection value of the change amount in the traveling direction from the linear movement state.
Tractor Unit With On-Board Regenerative Braking Energy Storage for Stopover HVAC Operation Without Engine Idle
A through the road (TTR) hybridization strategy is proposed to facilitate introduction of hybrid electric vehicle technology in a significant portion of current and expected trucking fleets. In some cases, the technologies can be retrofitted onto an existing vehicle (e.g., a trailer, a tractor-trailer configuration, etc.). In some cases, the technologies can be built into new vehicles. In some cases, one vehicle may be built or retrofitted to operate in tandem with another and provide the hybridization benefits contemplated herein. By supplementing motive forces delivered through a primary drivetrain and fuel-fed engine with supplemental torque delivered at one or more electrically-powered drive axles, improvements in overall fuel efficiency and performance may be delivered, typically without significant redesign of existing components and systems that have been proven in the trucking industry.
SUPPLEMENTAL ELECTRIC DRIVE WITH PRIMARY ENGINE RECOGNITION FOR ELECTRIC DRIVE CONTROLLER ADAPTATION
Through-the-road (TTR) hybrid designs using control strategies such as an equivalent consumption minimization strategy (ECMS) or an adaptive ECMS are implemented at the supplemental torque delivering electrically-powered drive axle (or axles) in a manner that follows operational parameters or computationally estimates states of the primary drivetrain and/or fuel-fed engine, but does not itself participate in control of the fuel-fed engine or primary drivetrain. BSFC type data particular to the paired-with fuel-fed engine allows an ECMS implementation (or other similar control strategy) to adapt to efficiency curves for the particular fuel-fed engine and to improve overall efficiencies of the TTR hybrid configuration.
PRECISE TRUCK PARKING METHOD, DEVICE, AND SYSTEM IN QUAYSIDE CONTAINER CRANE AREA
A method, a device, and a system for parking a truck accurately in a shore crane area are provided. A vehicle controller transmits a parking request for a truck to be parked. A main controller receives the parking request and acquires real-time point cloud data by scanning one or more lanes crossed by a shore crane using one or more LiDARs. The main controller clusters the real-time point cloud data to obtain a set of point clouds for the truck and applies an Iterative Closest Point algorithm to the set of point clouds and a vehicle point cloud model to obtain a real-time distance from the truck to a target parking space. The vehicle controller controls the truck to stop at the target parking space based on the real-time distance.
PATH PLANNING AND CONTROL TO ACCOUNT FOR POSITION UNCERTAINTY FOR AUTONOMOUS MACHINE APPLICATIONS
In various examples, systems and methods are disclosed for generating and/or analyzing candidate paths for a multi-body vehicle—e.g., a tractor trailer truck—based on obstacle avoidance considerations and using an uncertainty representation for the vehicle. The uncertainty representation may correspond to a trailer portion of the multi-body vehicle to account for the variations in rotation of the trailer with respect to the tractor. As such, the uncertainty representation may be indicative of a probability that the trailer of the vehicle occupies locations and/or points in world space. This probability—combined with the probability of locations of actors in the environment—may be used to generate candidate paths that satisfy various constraints—e.g., a minimum stochastic distance—between the vehicle and the actor.
