Extendable rope protecting sheath
09675843 · 2017-06-13 ·

An extendable rope protecting sheath is an apparatus that extends over an existing climbing rope in order to provide a barrier that protects said climbing rope from fraying and weakening as a result of direct contact with damaging surfaces. The apparatus includes an extendable sheath which folds over the climbing rope and is secured onto itself by an inner fastening strip and an outer fastening strip. The apparatus includes a first breakaway recovery strap which is connected to the extendable sheath and used to attach a breakaway wristband to the extendable sheath. The attachment between the breakaway wristband and the extendable sheath allows the user to adjust the apparatus with minimal interference to the user's range of motion. The apparatus uses a first double-sided fastening strip and a second double-sided fastening strip to secure the apparatus to the climbing rope and link multiple extendable rope protecting sheaths together.

MULTIPURPOSE DEVICE FOR USE WITH A ROPE
20170080260 · 2017-03-23 ·

A multifunction device for use generally with ropes and cords is disclosed. A rope portion of the device is about three times longer as it is wide. A brake bar extends perpendicularly from one end of the rope portion, and a brake retainer extends upward and perpendicular from the brake bar, forming a slot between the rope portion and brake retainer. There are three openings in the rope portion, one at each end, with the middle opening offset toward the upper opening for accommodating a narrowed region in said rope portion below the middle opening. The rope portion is about 3 times longer than its width, the brake bar is about half as wide as the rope portion and the brake retainer is about half as wide as the brake bar. The device has use as a belay, a rappel, an anchor, an auger, a toggle and other uses.

A power ice screw system including an ice screw and screw adapter configured to engage the ice screw, thus enabling use of a power drill to install the ice screw in an ice feature, is described. The ice screw includes a drive head configured to engage the screw adapter. The screw adapter includes clearing ports that enable the adapter to expel ice that enters the adapter from within the ice screw hollow core. The ice screw core extends through the drive head to permit ice to flow through the ice screw and into the adapter. A cutting member resides within the screw adapter, typically disposed between two clearing ports. The cutting member can be flanked by two flanges configured to direct ice that has been disrupted by the cutting member outwardly through the clearing ports. The power drill is typically a lightweight battery powered electric driver.
