Caster Wheel Orientation Sensor Assembly

A system for sensing the angular position of a caster wheel includes a sensor mounted on a bearing which supports a shaft aligned with the rotational axis of the caster. A target on the shaft is detected by the sensor which generates signals indicative of the presence or absence of the target. The position of the target is coordinated with the position of the caster wheel such that the signals are indicative of the angular position of the caster wheel. The target may be a groove extending partially around the shaft and a remaining ungrooved portion of the shaft.

Self-propelled vehicles having a steering position sensor

Self-propelled vehicles that include swiveling caster wheels and independent drive wheels are disclosed. The self-propelled vehicles are selectively steered in a caster wheel steering mode or a drive wheel steering mode. The vehicle includes a steering position sensor to measure the position of the steering system. A control unit varies the rotational speed of first and second drive wheels based at least in part of the signal from the steering position sensor.

DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM OF A FORAGE HARVESTER

A driver assistance system of an agricultural work machine constructed as forage harvester, wherein the agricultural work machine comprises a header for gathering crop, a chopping device having a chopping drum and chopping knives for comminuting the crop, and a monitoring device operable to generate a signal containing information about the wear status of the respective chopping knife and/or about the distance of the cutting edge of a chopping knife from a shear bar. This information is compared with a reference value, and the agricultural work machine has activation devices for activating and deactivating a knife grinding process and means for change of position of the shear bar. The monitoring device is integrated in the driver assistance system so that the driver assistance system automatically detects when a knife grinding process or a change of position of the shear bar must be activated or deactivated.

CUTTING SHARPNESS DETECTION DEVICE

A detection arrangement for detecting a wear status of a chopping knife arrangement of a chopping device provided for processing a product flow, wherein the chopping device has a revolving chopping drum receiving the chopping knife arrangement and at least one shear bar which cooperates with the chopping knives, with a sensor arrangement which has a magnetic exciter arrangement and a flux conducting device magnetically coupled thereto. The sensor arrangement provides a pole arrangement which forms at least one magnetic pole with a pole surface for conducting magnetic flux, wherein at least a portion of the chopping knife passes the pole arrangement during a rotation of the chopping drum. A voltage induced when a chopping knife arrangement passes the sensor arrangement forms the measured magnetic value, which is used by the evaluation unit to determine the state of wear of the chopping knife arrangement.

IMAGE SELECTION FOR MACHINE CONTROL
20200323134 · 2020-10-15 ·

A vegetation index characteristic is assigned to an image of vegetation at a worksite. The vegetation index characteristic is indicative of how a vegetation index value varies across the corresponding image. The image is selected for predictive map generation based upon the vegetation index characteristic. The predictive map is provided to a harvester control system which generates control signals that are applied to controllable subsystems of the harvester, based upon the predictive map and the location of the harvester.

CROSS-DIMENSION PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN MACHINE CONTROL
20200269859 · 2020-08-27 ·

A performance dimension is selected, and a gap in machine performance, according to the selected dimension, is identified. A target value is identified to improve machine control according to the selected dimension. A dependent dimension, which depends on the selected dimension, is selected and a dependency indicator, that indicates a dependency of the dependent dimension on the selected dimension, is accessed to identify a value of the dependent dimension that will change if the machine is controlled so that the value of the selected dimension is moved from a current value to the target value. The change in value of the selected dimension, and the dependent dimension are aggregated to determine whether machine control should be modified so the value of the selected dimension moves toward the target value. If so, a corresponding control operation is identified, and control signals are generated to control the machine to perform the identified control operation.

CONTROL SYSTEM FOR DUAL PATH MACHINE

A dual path agricultural machine including a control system having a number of input sensors, status sensors, and output sensors, and a controller configured to operate the dual path machine in a stability control mode and a selective rear-steer engagement and actuation mode. In the stability control mode, the controller adjusts an actual drive output of the dual path machine according to data received from the input sensors and feedback received from the output sensors so as to reduce a difference between the actual drive output and a desired drive output. In selective rear-steer engagement and actuation mode, the controller engages rear-steer mechanisms with caster wheels of the dual path machine and actuates the caster wheels via the rear-steer mechanisms if a criterion is satisfied. The controller disengages the rear-steer mechanisms from the caster wheels or does not actuate the caster wheels if the criterion is not satisfied.

Ground Bearing Capacity

A combine harvester comprising a controller, at least one first sensor adapted to measure a first parameter related to soil deformation, and at least one second sensor adapted to measure a second parameter related to wheel slip. The first sensor is adapted to provide a first output to the controller. The second sensor is adapted to provide a second output to the controller. The controller is configured to determine a ground bearing capacity based on a combination of the first output and the second output.
