Drowsiness detection and intervention system and method
An in-vehicle monitoring and intervention system for detecting whether a driver in a vehicle is drowsy by monitoring a plurality of physiological signals of the driver is provided. The in-vehicle monitoring and intervention system includes at least a processor and an apparatus, the apparatus can be integrated into a seat belt or attached thereto as a discrete hardware apparatus, which includes at least an ECG sensor, a respiratory sensor, an acceleration sensor, a filtering system, and an intervention module. The filtering system further comprises one or more filters for suppressing noise and reducing motion artifacts. The processor is configured to compare the detected physiological signals with the signals stored in a learning module of the in-vehicle monitoring and intervention system for determining the drowsiness state. If the driver is determined to be drowsy, a warning signal is outputted to alert the driver.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETECTING A DRIVING EVENT OF A VEHICLE
A device for detecting a driving event of a vehicle, having a triaxial acceleration sensor and a processing unit. The device may be fixedly installed on the vehicle. The processing unit is configured to detect a plurality of acceleration values within a specific time span using the acceleration sensor, carry out a wavelet transform of the acceleration values to determine first coefficients, and compare the first coefficients at least to stored second coefficients. The second coefficients represent a predefined driving event. The processing unit is configured to detect the driving event represented by the second coefficients as an occurred driving event when the first coefficients are in agreement with the second coefficients, and is configured to determine characteristic parameters of the detected acceleration values, to ascertain a specific mother wavelet as a function of the characteristic parameters, and to carry out the wavelet transform based on the ascertained mother wavelet.

Trail driving engine start-stop judgment systems and methods
Systems and methods for determining whether to use engine start-stop systems during trail or other off-road driving are provided. Systems and methods may utilize various vehicle sensors (e.g., lidar, forward-facing cameras, accelerometers, sonar sensors, etc.) to detect when it is appropriate to command engine stop for fuel economy while driving off-road. To determine appropriateness, the vehicle may evaluate obstacles, ground clearance, and/or vehicle inclination. A method may include measuring accelerations/inclinations of a vehicle, comparing an acceleration value of each acceleration to an acceleration threshold, and disabling a start-stop system of the vehicle based on at least one acceleration value exceeding the acceleration threshold. A system may include an accelerometer configured to measure accelerations of a vehicle, and a logic device configured to compare an acceleration value of each acceleration to an acceleration threshold, and disable a start-stop system based on at least one acceleration value exceeding the acceleration threshold.

AUTOMATIC PITCH MOUNTING COMPENSATION IN AN AUTOMATIC STEERING SYSTEM
A calibration system calibrates inertial sensor readings on a vehicle. The calibration system estimates an attitude of the ground from a series of height and position measurements and reads an attitude from an inertial sensor subsystem attached to the vehicle. The calibration system then calculates an attitude offset between the vehicle and inertial sensor subsystem based on a difference between the estimated attitude of the ground and the attitude reading of the inertial sensor subsystem. The calibration system may estimate a slope of the ground from a 3-dimensional terrain map. The slope of the ground is converted into an estimated roll and/or pitch of the vehicle which is then compared with the roll and pitch readings from the inertial sensor subsystem to determine the attitude offset.
