Controller and control method for hybrid vehicle
A controller for a hybrid vehicle restarts an engine in a start mode selected from multiple start modes. The multiple start modes include a first start mode of starting combustion in the engine when a clutch starts transmitting torque and a second start mode of starting combustion in the engine after the clutch starts transmitting torque. The controller is configured to, in a case in which the engine is restarted in the second start mode, measure a cranking start time from when engagement of the clutch is commanded to when transmission of the torque through the clutch is started, and only when measurement of the cranking start time has been completed after the vehicle is activated, restart the engine in the first start mode.
FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE
A four-wheel drive vehicle includes: (a) main drive wheels and auxiliary drive wheels; (b) a rotating machine as a drive power source; (c) a drive-power distribution clutch configured to allocate a part of a drive power outputted to the main drive wheels from the drive power source, to the auxiliary drive wheels, so as to distribute the drive power to the main drive wheels and the auxiliary drive wheels with a drive-power distribution ratio between the auxiliary drive wheels and the main drive wheels, such that the drive-power distribution ratio is variable with an engaging force of the drive-power distribution clutch being controlled; and (d) a control apparatus configured, when determining that a heat load of the drive-power distribution clutch is large during deceleration running of the vehicle, to limit a regenerative torque of the rotating machine, as compared with when determining that the heat load is small.
Methods and system for selecting an engine starting device
A method for operating a vehicle that includes an internal combustion engine that may be automatically stopped and started is described. In one example, selection of an engine starting device is based on a value of an engine starting torque reserve. The engine starting torque reserve may be dynamically adjusted so that life spans of engine starting devices may meet expectations.
User input signal management in a vehicle to selectively limit the prime mover rotational speed
A user input signal management method for a vehicle provided with a prime mover having an output that rotates and an input for a user input signal that controls the rotating speed of the output of the prime mover. The method including the reception of a signal representative of the position of a user input of a vehicle, the reception of data representative of at least one condition of the vehicle, the modification of the received signal representative of the position of the user input as a function of the data received and the supply of the modified signal to the accelerator input of the prime mover.
CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE
A controller is employed in a vehicle including an engine, a motor generator, and a hydraulically-driven clutch. The controller includes a CPU that executes: a first starting process that starts, when starting the engine under a condition in which a system shaft torque is less than a shaft torque determination value, combustion in the engine after increasing an engine rotation speed to a motor rotation speed by engaging the clutch; a second starting process that starts, when starting the engine under a condition in which the system shaft torque is greater than or equal to the shaft torque determination value, combustion in the engine after the crankshaft starts to be rotated by engaging the clutch, the combustion being started before the engine rotation speed reaches the motor rotation speed; and a setting process that sets the shaft torque determination value to be larger as an oil temperature becomes lower.
CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE
A controller is employed in a vehicle including an engine, a motor generator, and a hydraulically-driven clutch. The controller includes a CPU that executes: a first starting process that starts, when starting the engine under a condition in which an increase amount of a torque request value is less than an increase amount determination value, combustion in the engine after increasing an engine rotation speed to a motor rotation speed by engaging the clutch; and a second starting process that starts, when starting the engine under a condition in which the increase amount of the torque request value is greater than or equal to the increase amount determination value, combustion in the engine after the crankshaft starts to be rotated by engaging the clutch, the combustion being started before the engine rotation speed reaches the motor rotation speed.
System, method, and apparatus for operating a high efficiency, high output transmission
A transmission includes an input shaft coupled to a prime mover, a countershaft, main shaft, and an output shaft, with gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. A shift actuator selectively couples the input shaft to the main shaft by rotatably coupling gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. The shift actuator is mounted on an exterior wall of a housing including the countershaft and the main shaft. A controller controls the shift actuator utilizing an actuating pulse and an opposing pulse.
HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROLLER
A hybrid vehicle controller for controlling a hybrid vehicle including a hybrid system is provided. The hybrid system includes an engine, a motor generator, a battery configured to supply power with the motor generator, a clutch configured to connect the engine to the motor generator, and a relay configured to connect the motor generator to the battery. The hybrid vehicle controller includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to execute, when an operation requesting opening of the relay is performed, a process that releases the clutch, a negative torque application process that applies a negative torque, which is a torque for lowering a rotational speed of the motor generator, to the motor generator, after releasing the clutch, and a process that releases the relay when the rotational speed of the motor generator becomes less than a threshold.
On-board controller and method for controlling vehicle
An on-board controller executes a torque reduction process that reduces torque generated by an electric motor when a brake pedal of a vehicle is depressed and the vehicle is stopped during motor creep driving. When a start request for an internal combustion engine is issued, the on-board controller executes an engine start process that sets a clutch mechanism to an engagement state, which engages an output shaft of the internal combustion engine with an output shaft of the electric motor, and drives the electric motor to perform cranking. When a state in which the clutch mechanism is maintained immediately before the engagement state is defined as an engagement preparation state, the on-board controller executes a preparation process that applies hydraulic pressure to the clutch mechanism during execution of the torque reduction process so that the clutch mechanism is set to the engagement preparation state.
METHOD FOR ACTIVELY CHANGING THE FRICTIONAL VALUE OF A HYBRID DISCONNECT CLUTCH INSTALLED IN A POWER TRAIN OF A VEHICLE
A method actively changes the frictional value of a hybrid disconnect clutch installed in a powertrain of a vehicle in which a first electric motor (18) is connected to a clutch input (21) and an internal combustion engine (17), and a second electric motor (19) is connected to a clutch output (22) and a vehicle output (23). The frictional value of the hybrid disconnect clutch is actively changed, in order to roughen a surface of the friction linings on the hybrid disconnect clutch (20). A slip situation is established at the hybrid disconnect clutch (20), and during this slip situation energy is introduced into the hybrid disconnect clutch (20) in a controlled manner.
