A hybrid vehicle is provided. The present invention relates to a method for determining engine operation parameter values during and/or after a gear shift operation prior to performing said gear shift operation. The method comprises the steps of, prior to the gear shift operation: determining initial conditions comprising torque demand and engine speed and certain other engine operation parameter values; providing said initial conditions to an engine operation simulation model; providing a torque development course as well as an engine speed development course during the intended gear shift operation to said engine operation simulation model; and determining desired engine operation parameter values by means of said engine operation simulation model based upon the information thus provided to said engine operation simulation model.
Method For Operating A Hybrid Vehicle
A hybrid vehicle is operated with a combustion engine, an electric machine and a gear unit. The vehicle has a first electrical system and a second electrical system as a vehicle electrical system. The first electrical system, which is operated at a higher voltage level than the second electrical system, operates the electric machine, an electrical energy storage device, an energy converter that transmits electrical power at least from the first electrical system into the second electrical system. An alternator is not used in the second electrical system. The first electrical system is a part of a transmission system that together with the components that are coupled to the transmission system is controlled by a transmission control unit. During power generation by the electric machine the energy supply of the second electrical system has a higher priority than a motor-mode support of the drive by the electric machine.

A method includes determining, by a controller, that a transient event for a hybrid vehicle is occurring; determining, by the controller, an increase of power demand for the hybrid vehicle based on the determined transient event; directing, by the controller, an amount of power from an electric motor of the hybrid vehicle to a powertrain of the hybrid vehicle based on the increase in power demand, the amount of power from the electric motor determined based on at least one of a state of charge of a battery of the hybrid vehicle; and increasing, by the controller, an amount of power from an engine of the hybrid vehicle as a power output from the electric motor decays to avoid an engine power output spike from the engine based on the determined increase in power demand.

The duty cycle control process includes at least one of two processes, a process of setting the duty cycle to be larger when a member in an overheatable region, in which overheating is possibly performed by the heater, has a low temperature than when the member has a high temperature and a process of setting the duty cycle to be larger when an internal combustion engine has a large intake air amount than when the engine has a small intake air amount.

When a temperature of a catalyst in an exhaust emission control device mounted in an exhaust system of an engine is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature at a time of a request for stopping the engine, a hybrid vehicle including the engine and a motor continues fuel injection of the engine until satisfaction of a predetermined condition and stops fuel injection of the engine on satisfaction of the predetermined condition. When the temperature of the catalyst is lower than the predetermined temperature at the time of the request for stopping the engine, on the other hand, the hybrid vehicle immediately stops fuel injection of the engine.
