ASSISTANCE BY TOWED VEHICLE
A computer includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to receive data indicating a lane change by a first vehicle that is towing a second vehicle, the data including data indicating a direction that first wheels of the first vehicle are turning while the first vehicle is performing the lane change; and during the lane change, instruct a steering system of the second vehicle to turn second wheels of the second vehicle in a same direction as the first wheels.
Control techniques for controlling electric hybrid retrofitted vehicles
An electric motor drive retrofit system (EMDRS) comprises a power system, an energy storage system (ESS), a cooling system, a vehicle control unit (VCU), and a user interface device (UID). A non-hybrid combustion engine drive vehicle with tight space constraints is retrofittable with the EMDRS to provide hybrid drive functionality. EMDRS includes a motor generator unit (MGU) coupled to a motor control unit that transfers charge between MGU and ESS. During retrofit, the MGU is coupled between a transmission and an internal combustion engine (ICE) of the vehicle without extending a powertrain length by more than five inches. VCU does not interfere with any pre-existing vehicle electronics. The VCU controls the EMDRS to add torque (discharging ESS) or to remove torque (charging the ESS) based on a selected operating mode and vehicle sensor information (for example, brake and throttle pressure). Operating modes are selected by driver via the UID.
Vehicle Equipped with Electric Motor and Method of Controlling Traveling of Same
An embodiment method of controlling traveling of an electrified vehicle equipped with an electric motor as a power source includes determining whether it is possible to enter a variable control function. The variable control function includes a function of variably controlling a coasting torque level using a regenerative braking force. In response to a determination that it is not possible to enter the variable control function, a cause of an inability to enter the variable control function is determined and control is performed in a manner that corresponds to a determination that it is possible to enter the variable control function or the determination of the cause of the inability to enter the variable control function in response to the determination that it is not possible to enter the variable control function.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING HYBRID VEHICLE
A hybrid vehicle control method controls a hybrid vehicle having an electric power source, a vehicle electrical equipment and drive motor to which electric power is supplied from the electric power source. The vehicle electrical equipment and the drive motor are electrically connected to the electric power source via at least a shared harness. When a temperature of the harness is equal to or greater than a predetermined temperature, upper limit values of electric power supplied from the electric power source to the vehicle electrical equipment and the drive motor are both reduced, and a degree of reduction in the upper limit value for the vehicle equipment is greater than a degree of reduction in the upper limit value for the drive motor.
Method for a serial driving mode of a motor vehicle
A method for serial operation of a motor vehicle with a transmission having a first electric machine, which is operated as a motor for driving the motor vehicle, and a second electric machine, which is operated as a generator, includes, after a generation of a change-over signal, switching the first electric machine from the operation as a motor to the operation as a generator, and switching the second electric machine from the operation as a generator to the operation as a motor in order to drive the motor vehicle.
Hybrid vehicle transmission shift control for electric machine thermal management
A system and method for controlling a hybrid vehicle having an engine, a traction motor, and an automatic step-ratio transmission having a plurality of selectable discrete gear ratios, a torque converter, and sharing a common cooling fluid or oil with the traction motor, include a controller configured to shift the automatic step-ratio transmission to neutral in response to vehicle speed being below a threshold with the engine idling while temperatures of at least two of: the traction battery, the electric machine, and the transmission are above associated thresholds to reduce heat generation by the torque converter due to oil shear with the torque converter stalled. The controller may shift the transmission to drive in response to release of a brake pedal. A neutral shift may also be performed in response to high-voltage accessory loads or on-board generator loads exceeding a threshold.
Systems and methods for managing temperature of an electric machine of a hybrid electric vehicle
Methods and systems are provided for operating a driveline of a hybrid vehicle during conditions when a temperature of a motor/generator is increasing. In one example, a method is provided that adjusts engine speed as a function of motor/generator temperature while maintaining engine power output when driver demand wheel power is constant.
Control method and control unit for a vehicle drivetrain
A method for operating a motor vehicle that has an internal combustion engine and an automated manual transmission, connected between the engine and a drive output. The transmission includes a shifting element group with a plurality of shifting elements. The transmission further includes an oil pump and an electric machine, both of which are integrated in the transmission and coupled to an input shaft of the transmission. The oil pump delivers a flow of transmission oil for cooling the shifting element group and cooling the electric machine, and the shifting elements of the shifting element group are controlled and shifted by an actuator system that is independent of the oil pump. When the motor vehicle is at rest, the oil pump is driven by the electric machine in order to cool the electric machine while the motor vehicle is at rest.
Hybrid electric vehicle and method of controlling the same
Disclosed is a method of controlling a hybrid electric vehicle having a transmission, an engine, and first and second drive motors. The method includes: performing charging through the first drive motor using the power of the engine by engaging an engine clutch disposed between the engine and the first drive motor while a vehicle is stopped with the gear stage shifted to the parking (P) range; turning off the engine and controlling the clutch of the transmission to enter an open state when the gear stage is shifted to the driving (D) range; and commencing movement of the vehicle using the second drive motor alone or using at least one of the first drive motor or the engine together with the second drive motor based on at least one of requested torque, available torque of the second drive motor, or the speed of the first drive motor.
ELECTRIFIED MILITARY VEHICLE
An energy storage system for a military vehicle includes a lower support, a battery supported on the lower support, a bracket coupled to the battery, and an upper isolator mount coupled between the bracket and a wall. The upper isolator mount is configured to provide front-to-back vibration isolation of the battery relative to the wall.
