The electrical outlet is configured to draw power from the battery to power an external device. The controller is programmed to adjust a rate at which the electric machine charges the battery based on a power consumption at the electrical outlet exceeding a threshold and a battery degradation value.
CONTROL COMPUTER FOR A DRIVE TRAIN OF A HYBRID VEHICLE
A computer for controlling a drivetrain of a hybrid vehicle including a combustion engine, an electric machine, a battery and a “heated” catalytic converter including an internal heating system. The computer being configured to determine a plurality of values for a criterion pertaining to the energy consumption of the drivetrain as a function of the distribution of torque between the at least one combustion engine and the at least one electric machine, of the at least one combustion mode of the combustion engine, and of the energy consumption due to the use of the catalytic converter, select the minimum value of the consumption criterion, apply the combustion engine torque command, the electric machine torque command, the command pertaining to the energy consumption by the catalytic converter and the command pertaining to the combustion mode of the combustion engine corresponding to the selected value of the consumption criterion.
VEHICLE-MOUNTED RELAY DEVICE, COMPUTER PROGRAM, AND FAILURE DETERMINING METHOD
Provided are a vehicle-mounted relay device, a computer program, and a failure determining method capable of determining the presence of a failure in a vehicle-mounted device. The vehicle-mounted relay device includes: a power relay unit; a sensing unit that senses a power consumption; a communication relay unit that relays transmission and reception of data; and a failure determining unit that determines the presence or absence of a failure. The vehicle-mounted relay device may include a cutoff unit cutting off the power to the vehicle-mounted device from the power relay unit when a failure is determined to be present on the basis of the power consumption amount sensed. The vehicle-mounted relay device may include a limiting unit that limits the relay of data from the vehicle-mounted device to another device when a failure is determined to be present on the basis of the data transmitted being an abnormal value.
SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR OPTIMIZING ENGINE OPERATIONS IN GENSETS
A system includes a generator and an engine coupled to the generator. The engine is configured to provide mechanical power to the generator. The system further includes a controller coupled to the engine and the generator. The controller is configured to: receive information regarding an engine operating parameter threshold value at which an engine operating parameter value failed to match a load demand value that is indicative of a load exerted by the generator on the engine, and set the engine operating parameter threshold value as a maximum allowable engine operating parameter value for the engine.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENERGY EFFICIENT PROGNOSTICS
Described herein is a server computing system that controls an autonomous vehicle to perform an operation to at least one of measure or isolate an effect of a variable on an actual power consumption by the autonomous vehicle. Data indicative of the actual power consumption, which is generated based on the operation, and data indicative of a projected power consumption, which is accumulated based on prior execution of the operation by a same or different autonomous vehicle, is received by the server computing system to determine whether an energy efficiency of the autonomous vehicle is degraded. The operation may be performed to identify a degraded vehicle system or component of the autonomous vehicle or to identify an autonomous vehicle in a fleet of autonomous vehicles for which further analysis is desirable. An output is generated by the server computing system that is indicative of the energy efficiency prognostics.
HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CONTROL FOR ELECTRIC MACHINE THERMAL MANAGEMENT
A system and method for controlling a hybrid vehicle having an engine, a traction motor, and an automatic step-ratio transmission having a plurality of selectable discrete gear ratios, a torque converter, and sharing a common cooling fluid or oil with the traction motor, include a controller configured to shift the automatic step-ratio transmission to neutral in response to vehicle speed being below a threshold with the engine idling while temperatures of at least two of: the traction battery, the electric machine, and the transmission are above associated thresholds to reduce heat generation by the torque converter due to oil shear with the torque converter stalled. The controller may shift the transmission to drive in response to release of a brake pedal. A neutral shift may also be performed in response to high-voltage accessory loads or on-board generator loads exceeding a threshold.
