Eco-friendly vehicle and method of controlling coasting for the same
A method of controlling coasting of an eco-friendly vehicle includes: determining at least one effective event among deceleration events configured with a target speed in a forward driving path; setting a closest effective event based on a current position among the at least one effective event as a first candidate event; determining whether at least one second candidate event corresponding to an event needed to be followed is present among remaining effective events except for the first candidate event of the at least one effective event; and, when the at least one second candidate event is present, determining a target event among the first candidate event and the second candidate event in consideration of a control start point.
System for determining road slipperiness in bad weather conditions
Systems and methods are disclosed for estimating slipperiness of a road surface. This estimate may be obtained using an image sensor mounted on a vehicle. The estimated road slipperiness may be utilized when calculating a risk index for the road, or for an area including the road. If a predetermined threshold for slipperiness is exceeded, corrective actions may be taken. For instance, warnings may be generated to human drivers that are in control of driving vehicle, and autonomous vehicles may automatically adjust vehicle speed based upon road slipperiness detected.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WITH NON-VISUAL CONFIRMATION OF OBSTACLES
A system comprises a computer having a processor and a memory, the memory storing instructions executable by the processor to access sensor data of a first sensor of a vehicle while an adaptive cruise control feature of the vehicle is active, detect, based on the sensor data of the first sensor, a stationary object located along a path of travel of the vehicle, wherein the stationary object is located outside of a range of a second sensor of the vehicle, determine a presence of an intersection within a threshold distance of the stationary object that is along the path of travel of the vehicle, and responsive to a determination that the stationary object is a stopped vehicle of the intersection, adjust, by the adaptive cruise control feature, the speed of the vehicle.
DRIVER STATE GUIDE DEVICE AND DRIVER STATE GUIDE METHOD
A driver state guide device includes: a state identification unit identifying a present state of a driver of an own vehicle; a target estimation unit estimating a target state to which the state of the driver is guided; a route prediction unit providing a predicted route of the own vehicle; a situation prediction unit predicting a situation in the predicted route predicted by the route prediction unit; a planning unit planning, as a stimulus plan, a stimulus to be used in the predicted route to guide the state of the driver to the target state; and a stimulus control unit providing the stimulus for the driver according to the stimulus plan determined by the planning unit in the predicted route.
TRAFFIC FLOW RISK PREDICTION AND MITIGATION
A method for determining a risk boundary in response to the plurality of indications of hard braking events wherein the risk boundary is indicative of a plurality of speed flow pairs at which a risk of a hard braking event is below a threshold value, determining, at a road segment level, a set of speed flow pairs of average speed and vehicle count and a plurality of indications of hard braking events , determining a host vehicle speed, and performing at least one of reducing the host vehicle speed and increasing a host vehicle following distance in response to the host vehicle speed exceeding the risk boundary for the vehicle flow density.
POWER MANAGEMENT FOR HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES
A system and method for power management of hybrid electric vehicles is provided. In some implementations, a plug-in series hybrid electric vehicle may include an engine, a motor/generator (MG), a traction motor, an energy storage device, and a controller. The controller is coupled to the engine and the MG to control operation of the engine and the MG such that a state-of-charge (SOC) of the energy storage device tracks a dynamic reference SOC profile during a trip and an average engine power (AEP) is maintained above a threshold. In some instances, maintaining AEP above a threshold supports emission control of the vehicle.
CONTROL DEVICE AND CONTROL PROGRAM PRODUCT
A control device is used in a subject vehicle capable of performing autonomous driving with no obligation for a driver to monitor periphery. The control device determines whether a permission state, in which a specific act other than driving is permitted to the driver, is continued or not when approach of an emergency vehicle to the subject vehicle is detected during an autonomous cruising period in which the autonomous driving is being performed. The control device restricts display of a content provided to the driver when the permission state of the specific act is determined to be not continued.
DETERMINATION OF VEHICLE PULLOVER LOCATION CONSIDERING AMBIENT CONDITIONS
This document describes methods and systems for enabling an autonomous vehicle (AV) to determine a path to a stopping location. The AV will determine a desired stop location (DSL) that is associated with a service request. The AV's motion control system will move the AV along a path to the DSL. While moving along the path, the AV's perception system will detect ambient conditions near the DSL. The ambient conditions will be parameters associated with a stopping rule. The AV will apply the stopping rule to the ambient conditions to determine whether the stopping rule permits the AV to stop at the DSL. If the stopping rule permits the AV to stop at the DSL, the motion control system will move the AV to, and stop at, the DSL. Otherwise, the motion control system will not stop the AV at the DSL.
TRAVEL SUPPORT CONTROL DEVICE FOR HYBRID VEHICLE
When an adjustment target road in which a state of charge of the battery needs to be actively adjusted such as a congested road or a downhill road has been detected in the travel route based on the look-ahead information, the travel support control device performs state-of-charge adjustment control up to the adjustment target road. The travel support control device detects the adjustment target road based on look-ahead information generated for an estimated route on which it is estimated that the hybrid vehicle is to travel when the travel route has not been set, and performs the state-of-charge adjustment control up to the adjustment target road when the adjustment target road has been detected. At this time, a detection range for detecting a congested road and a detection range for detecting a downhill road in the estimated route are different.
Method and Apparatus for Trajectory Shape Generation for Autonomous Vehicles
An apparatus for controlling a direction and speed of travel an autonomous vehicle or driver assisted autonomous vehicle (AV). A GPS and map module receive a start location and a destination location for the AV. A plurality of sensors identify a current and a proposed lane for the AV. A database of AV baseline maneuver profiles used to control one or more of direction and speed of travel of the AV is provided. A trajectory profile generator module generates a planned path for the AV with lateral acceleration less than 2 Hz, based on the start location, the destination location, the current and proposed lane for the AV, and a selected AV baseline maneuver profile from the database. A steering control module controls the direction of travel of the AV based on the generated AV planned path, and a supervisory control module controls the speed of the AV based on the generated AV planned path and inner ear constraints.
