A method includes monitoring one or more of an ambient condition or an operational condition of a vehicle system while the vehicle system is stationary and a propulsion system of the vehicle system is operating at an idle speed, determining whether the one or more of the ambient condition or the operational condition satisfy one or more reduced auxiliary or parasitic load criteria, reducing one or more of an auxiliary load or a parasitic load responsive to determining that the one or more ambient condition or the operational condition satisfy the one or more reduced auxiliary or parasitic load criteria, and subsequently reducing the idle speed at which the propulsion system is operating to a slower speed following reducing the one or more of the auxiliary load or the parasitic load.
Control device and control method for a vehicle, and storage medium
Provided are a control device and a control method for a vehicle, and storage medium which are capable of reducing vibration, noise, and speed change shock caused by a downshift when an increase in a required driving force is predicted during automated drive. In a control device (100) for a vehicle which is equipped with an automatic transmission (TM) and capable of automated driving control, when an increase in a required driving force is predicted during the execution of the automated driving control, a vehicle speed of the vehicle is maintained or decelerated until an increase timing of the required driving force, an engine rotation number is increased within a standby period until the increase timing of the required driving force, a torque of the engine is decreased in response to the increase in the engine rotation number, and a shift gear level of the automatic transmission is shifted downward.
ELECTRIC DRIVE SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE
An electric drive system for a vehicle and method includes controlling a propulsion system of the vehicle to operate according to a first torque-speed relationship between a power generated by an engine and a speed of the engine. The engine is controlled according to the first torque-speed relationship during acceleration of the vehicle by motors that are powered by operation of the engine. The method includes determining that operation of the propulsion system has reached a steady state following the propulsion system operating according to the first torque-speed relationship and controlling the propulsion system to operate according to a second torque-speed relationship between the power and the speed of the engine. The second torque-speed relationship is reduced relative to the first torque-speed relationship such that the engine speed in the first torque-speed relationship is associated with a greater amount of power than in the second torque-speed relationship.
Power control system with engine throttle shift function
A control system for a work vehicle includes a power source with an engine and at least one motor configured to generate power; a transmission including a plurality of clutches configured for selective engagement to transfer the power to drive an output shaft of a powertrain of the work vehicle; and a controller coupled to the power source and the transmission. The controller has a processor and memory architecture configured to: initiate a transition for the transmission between a first transmission mode and a second transmission mode at a first shift point associated with an engine throttle shift function; determine a current engine speed; and generate and execute an engine speed command for the engine such that a commanded engine speed is a function of the current engine speed in accordance with the engine throttle shift function upon the transition of the transmission at the first shift point.
Method of Reducing Cold Start Emissions in Hybrid Electric Vehicles
A method of reducing cold start emissions in a series mode hybrid electric vehicle, including an internal combustion engine with an exhaust duct having a catalyst and a downstream oxygen sensor, an output of the combustion engine being connected to an electric generator with a power output of at least 10 kW that is connected to an electric motor which is coupled to a drive shaft of two or more wheels. The method includes detecting a cold start condition, injecting fuel into the engine such that combustion at a lambda value, λ, is achieved for which λ>1, running the engine at a speed of 1000 rpm or higher, determining if the efficiency of the catalyst reaches a first level, setting λ to about 1 after the predetermined efficiency level of the catalyst has been reached, and reducing the speed to working conditions when the catalyst efficiency reaches a second level.
Vehicle collision detection and driver notification system
A vehicle collision avoidance and driver notification system includes an object detection unit configured to detect environmental obstacles and a collision detection unit for assessing risk of collision. Depending on risk assessment, a collision avoidance unit gives feedback to the driver or directly interacts with the vehicle engine.
Method for accelerating a vehicle from rest
A method for accelerating a vehicle from rest. The method includes receiving a mode indication indicating a launch control mode selected; receiving a brake-on indication; controlling the engine according to a launch control strategy; determining an accelerator position; for an accelerator position greater than zero, controlling the engine to: increase open a throttle valve and control the engine to limit engine torque output; receiving a brake-off indication; controlling the engine according to the standard control strategy, controlling the engine according to the standard control strategy with the braking system having been released causing the vehicle to accelerate from rest, a first rate of acceleration from rest of the vehicle being greater than a second rate of acceleration from rest of the vehicle for corresponding changes in accelerator position, the first rate corresponding to accelerating from rest after controlling the engine according to the standard and launch control strategies.
Controller for hybrid electric vehicle and method for controlling hybrid electric vehicle
A controller for a hybrid electric vehicle including an internal combustion engine is provided. The internal combustion engine includes a filter arranged in an exhaust passage collect particulate matter from exhaust gas. The controller executes a first deceleration control process, a second deceleration control process, and a selection process. The first deceleration control process uses a fuel cutoff process when deceleration of the hybrid electric vehicle is required. The second deceleration control process does not use the fuel cutoff process when deceleration of the hybrid electric vehicle is required. The selection process selects execution of the second deceleration control process when a PM deposition amount is greater than or equal to a threshold value and selects execution of the first deceleration control process when the PM deposition amount is less than the threshold value.
HYBRID VEHICLE ENGINE IDLING CONTROL
Aspects of the present invention relate to a method and to a control system for controlling an engine and an electric traction motor of a vehicle, the control system comprising one or more controllers, wherein the control system is configured to: receive an indication of engine speed during engine idling; and control the electric traction motor to reduce a difference between the engine speed and an engine idle speed target
Vehicle control method and vehicle control device
A vehicle control method is provided such that when a host vehicle is stopped at a front of a vehicle line of vehicles in accordance with a stop signal of a traffic light at an intersection, the engine is stopped by using an idle stop control. When either a left-turn or a right-turn will be made after the traffic light changes to a go signal, a presence or an absence of a traveling body, which is stopped on a side of or behind the host vehicle in a direction from which the host vehicle is turning, is detected during the stop signal. Upon determining the traveling body is stopped on the side of host vehicle, restarting of the engine is placed on standby even when the traffic light turns to the go signal, and the engine is restarted in accordance with a behavior of the traveling body.
