A transmission system constructed in accordance to one example of the present disclosure includes an aftertreatment system and a controller. The transmission system is selectively coupled to an engine crankshaft of an internal combustion engine arranged on a vehicle. The aftertreatment system reduces emissions in an exhaust of the internal combustion engine. The controller operates in an aftertreatment heat-up mode such that the aftertreatment system is heated up to an elevated temperature and emissions are thereby reduced based on the elevated temperature. The controller operates in the aftertreatment heat-up mode when the internal combustion engine is operating at or below a brake mean effective pressure between three and four bar. The aftertreatment heat-up mode comprises increasing load on the internal combustion engine.

The present invention relates to a method for determining engine operation parameter values during and/or after a gear shift operation prior to performing said gear shift operation. The method comprises the steps of, prior to the gear shift operation: determining initial conditions comprising torque demand and engine speed and certain other engine operation parameter values; providing said initial conditions to an engine operation simulation model; providing a torque development course as well as an engine speed development course during the intended gear shift operation to said engine operation simulation model; and determining desired engine operation parameter values by means of said engine operation simulation model based upon the information thus provided to said engine operation simulation model.
Method For Operating A Hybrid Vehicle
A hybrid vehicle is operated with a combustion engine, an electric machine and a gear unit. The vehicle has a first electrical system and a second electrical system as a vehicle electrical system. The first electrical system, which is operated at a higher voltage level than the second electrical system, operates the electric machine, an electrical energy storage device, an energy converter that transmits electrical power at least from the first electrical system into the second electrical system. An alternator is not used in the second electrical system. The first electrical system is a part of a transmission system that together with the components that are coupled to the transmission system is controlled by a transmission control unit. During power generation by the electric machine the energy supply of the second electrical system has a higher priority than a motor-mode support of the drive by the electric machine.

In an execution determination process, the control device prohibits execution of both the first diagnosis process and the second diagnosis process when at least either the first execution conditions or the second execution conditions are not met, and permits execution of both the first diagnosis process and the second diagnosis process when both the first execution conditions and the second execution conditions are met.

The vehicle has a drive train (10) with the internal combustion engine (12) and a clutch unit (18), and the clutch unit (18) connects the internal combustion engine (12) in a separable manner to a transmission (20). The method includes switching off the internal combustion engine (12), and closing the clutch unit (18) with a slip.
Method and system for controlling catalyst temperature
A method and a system for improving operation of a hybrid vehicle are presented. In one example, an engine exhaust after treatment device is cooled at an opportunistic time. The approach may provide improved cooling for exhaust after treatment devices and it may also improve vehicle emissions.

A vehicle and a control method thereof are provided. The vehicle includes an engine, a catalytic converter including catalyst for purifying exhaust gas discharged from the engine and a sensing unit that is disposed between the engine and the catalytic converter. The sensing unit outputs an electrical signal in response to sensing of gas and a controller starts the engine based on the electrical signal output from the sensing unit and a mileage of the vehicle.

The control device executes the load factor increase control so that the required load factor to the engine becomes equal to or higher than the multi-stage injection realization load factor capable of realizing the multi-stage injection during the catalyst warm-up control.
