Monitoring a degree of attention of a driver of a vehicle

To monitor a degree of attentiveness for a driver of a vehicle, a period is determined on the basis of a speed of the vehicle. It is determined whether an eyelid closed time and/or an eyelid closing time of the driver exceeds the period.

Topographical integration for trailer backup assist system

A trailer backup assist system for vehicles utilizes surface slope data to provide an alert to an operator if a problematic operating condition is present and/or imminent while the vehicle is backing up with a trailer attached thereto. The trailer backup assist system may also be configured to utilize surface slope data to control steering, braking, or other vehicle operating parameter while the vehicle is backing up with a trailer attached thereto. The trailer backup assist system may also be configured to generate a warning and/or control the vehicle if a jackknife condition is imminent. The surface slope data may be obtained utilizing sensors on the vehicle, or the surface slope data may be obtained utilizing a database that includes topographical data.

VEHICLE STEERING CONTROL APPARATUS
20170088168 · 2017-03-30 ·

A vehicle steering control apparatus obtains lane information of a traveling lane and performs, based on the lane information, a steering control. The vehicle steering control apparatus includes a first-target-control-amount calculator, a second-target-control-amount calculator, a limit value calculator, and a steering control executing unit. The first-target-control-amount calculator calculates, based on image information, a target control amount of the steering control as a first target control amount. The second-target-control-amount calculator calculates, based on own vehicle position information and map information, a target control amount of the steering control as a second target control amount. The limit value calculator calculates a limit value of the first target control amount, based on the second target control amount as a reference. The steering control executing unit limits the first target control amount by the limit value, and executes the steering control, based on the limited first target control amount.

METHOD FOR ASSISTING A DRIVER OF A MOTOR VEHICLE COMBINATION, COMPUTER SOFTWARE PRODUCT, LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM

A method for assisting a driver of a motor vehicle combination with a towing vehicle and a trailer is described. A width of the motor vehicle combination is determined and a traffic lane is detected. A space required by the motor vehicle combination when travelling is predicted. A nominal track for the towing vehicle is calculated such that the motor vehicle combination remains inside the traffic lane. A computer software product, a lane departure warning system and a towing vehicle are also described.

Vehicle-behavior control apparatus and vehicle-behavior control system

A vehicle-behavior control apparatus according to an embodiment includes a collision determining unit that determines whether a vehicle collides with an obstacle when the vehicle is decelerated while going straight based on at least a detection result of the obstacle in front of the vehicle and a detection result of a running state of the vehicle in a condition in which wheels are being braked, and a vehicle-behavior control unit that performs at least one of the control of steering rear wheels and the control of giving a difference in braking conditions between the left and right wheels such that the vehicle is decelerated while detouring around the obstacle without steering front wheels when it is determined to collide with the obstacle by the collision determining unit, as one example.

Vehicle stabilization device

A vehicle stabilization system 1 comprises a VSA device to have a braking device generate a braking force to reduce rotation of wheels and perform an anti-lock braking control when a vehicle is braked and an AS device to cancel a yawing moment applied to the vehicle. A vehicle control device estimates a friction coefficient (pad value of the brake pad) of a friction material for braking the wheels, calculates braking forces for the left and right wheels using the estimated friction coefficient, calculates a yawing moment applied to the vehicle based on a braking force difference between a left wheel braking force to reduce rotation of the left wheels and a right wheel braking force to reduce rotation of the right wheels and determines an operation amount on the AS device.

A method, including: detecting a distance between a vehicle and an object. The method also includes determining, based on the distance between the vehicle and the object, that a path of travel of the vehicle presents a risk of collision between the vehicle and the object. The method also includes causing at least one of a wheel angle, a vehicle drivetrain, and vehicle braking to be changed to reduce the risk of collision.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING VEHICLE

An apparatus for controlling a vehicle includes a vehicle additional yaw moment calculator that calculates, based on a yaw rate of a vehicle, a vehicle additional yaw moment to be applied to the vehicle independently of a steering system, a slipping condition determiner that makes a determination as to a slipping condition of the vehicle, and an adjustment gain calculator that calculates an adjustment gain to adjust the vehicle additional yaw moment so as to reduce the vehicle additional yaw moment additional yaw moment when the vehicle is determined to be in the slipping condition, and increases the adjustment gain in accordance with a degree of a slip of the vehicle when the vehicle is determined to recover from the slipping condition.

Vehicle and control method thereof

A vehicle and a control method thereof may increase a shooting angle of a camera mounted on the vehicle to photograph without limitation of the shooting angle. The method of controlling a vehicle including at least one camera, the control method including: adjusting a direction of a vehicle body to adjust a shooting direction of the at least one camera to a target direction thereof; and controlling the at least one camera to photograph in the adjusted shooting direction.

A CMS for a commercial vehicle includes a vehicle camera, an electronic display, and a CMS controller. The vehicle camera is configured to record images of an environment surrounding a commercial vehicle. The electronic display includes a first display area and a second display area that is adjacent to the first display area, and a CMS controller. The CMS controller is configured to display the images on the electronic display to a driver of the commercial vehicle as a video feed that provides a first legally prescribed field of view in the first display area and provides a second legally prescribed field of view in the second display area, and obtain a list of one or more hazardous locations along a current or planned route of the commercial vehicle. Each hazardous location represents a hazardous stretch of road meeting one or more hazardous driving condition criteria. The CMS controller is also configured to, for each hazardous location in the list, based on the commercial vehicle approaching and being within a predefined distance of the hazardous location, provide a warning about the hazardous location to the driver. A method for a commercial vehicle is also disclosed.
