Golf ball dimple patterns contributing to a non-straight flight trajectory

The present invention provides golf balls having a non-straight flight trajectory due, at least in part, to a dimple pattern wherein the dimples on the opposing sides of the ball have at least one design feature that is different.

Golf ball

To provide a golf ball that can prevent a decrease in carry distance of a driver shot when it rains and also, can exert excellent spinning performance upon an approach shot. The golf ball of the present invention includes a core, a cover that is provided on an outer side of the core and has dimples, and an outermost layer that is formed on an outer side of the cover and made of a material having a contact angle of 90 or more, the golf ball having a dynamic friction coefficient of 0.52 or more. The cover may be formed of thermoplastic polyurethane having hardness of 55 or more in terms of Shore D Hardness. The outermost layer may be formed of a urethane coating containing a water repellent additive, as a main component.

A leather-adhered baseball/softball, comprises a ball core, and a wrapping layer formed over the ball core by a mold, wherein the mold is engraved with raised lines of baseball/softball stitches, such that the molded wrapping layer has a raised baseball/softball stitch guide; the baseball/softball stitch guide is used to align a ball leather, such that the ball leather is aligned and adhered onto the wrapping layer except the baseball/softball stitch guide by an adhesive, so as to form a baseball/softball cover having the baseball/softball stitch guide; or the ball leather is aligned and molded on the wrapping layer except the baseball/softball stitch guide by a mold from a formulated leather raw material, so as to form a baseball/softball cover having the baseball/softball stitch guide. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing a leather-adhered baseball/softball.

Golf balls having volumetric equivalence on opposing hemispheres and symmetric flight performance and methods of making same

Golf balls according to the present invention achieve flight symmetry and overall satisfactory flight performance due to a dimple surface volume ratio that is equivalent between opposing hemispheres despite the use of different dimple geometries, different dimple arrangements, and/or different dimple counts on the opposing hemispheres.

Golf ball dimple shape

The present invention is directed to golf balls having improved aesthetics and desirable aerodynamic properties due, at least in part, to the novel shape of the dimples on the surface thereof. In particular, the present invention is directed to a golf ball that includes at least a portion of its dimples having a shape obtained from the intersection of a toroid and a sphere. The resulting curve of intersection represents the dimple perimeter and the intersecting portion of the surface of the toroid represents the dimple surface shape.

Dimple patterns for golf balls

The present invention provides a golf ball wherein each hemisphere has a dimple pattern based on a pyramid having dissimilar sides. The resulting overall dimple pattern is not based on preexisting polyhedral, and is not attainable using conventional dimple packing methods.

A spiked ball includes an inflatable ball having an outer surface and a series of protrusions on the outer surface. The protrusion each appear as a tear-dropped shape mass that includes a base having a relatively flat bottom adhered to the outer surface and a narrow tip extending away from the outer surface. The narrow tip may also appear as a curved tale. The spikes provide a unique tactile feel and a surface for gripping that is different than other balls. The spikes also cause the ball to contact or grab the ground to create a unique bounce.

Golf balls with aerodynamic subsurfaces

The present invention provides a golf ball having an aerodynamic subsurface for packing dimples. More particularly, the invention relates to a golf ball having an exterior surface and at least a first subsurface containing at least two dimples located solely on the subsurface and lying below the exterior surface of the golf ball. A transition zone between the exterior surface and the subsurface is disclosed having an angle of transition and a top radius and a bottom radius.
