Autonomous Vehicle Navigation in Response to a Stopped Vehicle at a Railroad Crossing
20230134068 · 2023-05-04 ·

A control device associated with an autonomous vehicle receives sensor data and detects that the autonomous vehicle is approaching a railroad crossing based on the sensor data. The control device determines that no train is approaching the railroad crossing from the sensor data. The control device detects an indication of a stopped vehicle in front of the autonomous vehicle and behind the railroad crossing. The control device determines whether the stopped vehicle is associated with a mandatory stop rule. The mandatory stop rule indicates vehicles carrying hazardous materials have to stop behind the railroad crossing even when no train is approaching or traveling through the railroad crossing. If it is determined that the stopped vehicle is associated with the mandatory stop rule, the control device waits behind the stopped vehicle until the stopped vehicle crosses the railroad crossing and instructs the autonomous vehicle to cross the railroad.

A control device associated with an autonomous vehicle receives sensor data and detects that the autonomous vehicle is approaching a railroad crossing based on the sensor data. The control device determines that the railroad crossing is closed from the sensor data. The control device determines one or more re-routing options from map data. The control device determines whether at least one re-routing option reaches a predetermined destination of the autonomous vehicle. In response to determining that the at least one re-routing option reaches the predetermined destination, the control device selects a particular re-routing option based at least on determining that the autonomous vehicle is able to travel according to the particular re-routing option autonomously. The control device instructs the autonomous vehicle to re-route according to the particular re-routing option.

A control device associated with an autonomous vehicle receives sensor data and detects that the autonomous vehicle is approaching a railroad crossing based on the sensor data. The control device determines a target lane to travel while crossing the railroad. The target lane is a lane that has available space with at least a length of the autonomous vehicle on the other side of the railroad as opposed to a side of the railroad where the autonomous vehicle is currently traveling. The control device instructs the autonomous vehicle to travel on the target lane. The control device determines that a train is approaching the railroad crossing and waits for the train to pass the railroad crossing. The control device determines that the train has passed the railroad crossing. The control device instructs the autonomous vehicle to cross the railroad.

Vehicle Motion Control Method and Vehicle Motion Control Device

A vehicle motion control method controls a motion state of a vehicle during a vehicle transient motion in which an acceleration in a lateral direction is generated in the vehicle. The vehicle motion control method includes: setting a corrected longitudinal acceleration for correcting a basic longitudinal acceleration determined in accordance with a required driving force for traveling of the vehicle; and determining a target longitudinal acceleration from the basic longitudinal acceleration and the corrected longitudinal acceleration, and operating a traveling actuator of the vehicle based on the target longitudinal acceleration. A direction and a magnitude of the corrected longitudinal acceleration are determined from a viewpoint of suppressing a change in a posture of an occupant of the vehicle in a roll direction.

Adaptive cruise control with user-defined lateral acceleration threshold

A vehicle includes an engine, an accelerator pedal, and a controller. The controller is programmed to command torque to the engine based on a set speed of adaptive cruise control and is programmed to, in response to the adaptive cruise control being active, a measured lateral acceleration of the vehicle exceeding a user-defined lateral acceleration threshold during a road curve, and the accelerator pedal being released, reduce a speed of the vehicle below the set speed until the measured lateral acceleration is less than the lateral acceleration threshold.

Vehicle control device, vehicle control method, and program

A vehicle control device includes: a driving controller configured to perform first driving control such that one or both of an acceleration or deceleration speed and steering of a vehicle is controlled to travel the vehicle; an occupant intention detector configured to detect an intention of the occupant to switch from manual driving to a state in which the driving controller performs the first driving control; and a one-way traffic determiner configured to determine whether a road on which the vehicle is predicted to be traveling or travel in future is a one-way traffic road. The driving controller determines whether to start the first driving control based on whether the one-way traffic determiner determines the road on which the vehicle is predicted to be traveling or travel in future is the one-way traffic road.

Device and method for controlling vehicle movement, and device and method for generating target course

Provided are: a device and a method for controlling vehicle movement, with which it is possible to suppress causing uncomfortableness to vehicle occupants and causing unstable behavior during turning by automatic travel control; and a device and a method for generating a target course. In a vehicle capable of automatically controlling lateral acceleration occurring in the vehicle, the present invention controls the acceleration occurring in the vehicle such that jerk, which is the change over time of acceleration, becomes the greatest in a region where the lateral acceleration that occurs upon entering a curve is equal to or less than half the acceleration during normal turning, and the jerk decreases as the acceleration increases.

A method is intended to regulate the speed of an at least partially automated vehicle traveling on a first traffic lane adjacent to a second traffic lane. This method comprises a step (10-80) in which, if a radius of curvature of a future portion representative of a bend is detected, a phase of deceleration to a first deceleration speed adapted to the radius of curvature is imposed on the first vehicle unless it is in the course of overtaking a second vehicle traveling in the second traffic lane, since in that case a current speed of the second vehicle is determined and then, if the first deceleration speed is less than this current speed, the first deceleration speed is replaced with a second deceleration speed greater than this current speed.
