The method comprises: determining a desired torque in the output shaft of the gear box and a start torque in an output shaft of the combustion engine required to start the combustion engine, and controlling the first and second electrical machines to achieve both the desired and start torques.
Method of controlling transmission for reducing clutch abrasion and automatic transmission controlled by method
Disclosed are a method of controlling a transmission for reducing clutch abrasion and an automatic transmission controlled by the method. The method is applied to a hybrid vehicle, and controls an automatic transmission having an independent flow control valve and an engine clutch cooling channel for the cooling of an engine clutch mounted thereon. The method includes a hybrid starter generator (HSG) state determination step of determining a state of an HSG, a driving motor cranking execution step of cranking an engine using a driving motor when the state of the HSG is a state in which the HSG does not operate in the HSG state determination step, and a cooling execution step of supplying an additional flow to the engine clutch cooling channel by driving the independent flow control valve, wherein the cooling execution step is performed simultaneously with the driving motor cranking execution step.

Hybrid vehicle engine starter systems and methods
A vehicle propulsion system includes an engine and a first electric machine each configured to selectively provide torque to propel the vehicle. The propulsion system also includes a second electric machine coupled to the engine and configured to start the engine from an inactive state. A high-voltage battery powers both of the first electric machine and the second electric machine over a high-voltage bus. The vehicle further includes a controller programmed to issue a command to start the engine using the second electric machine in response to a threshold acceleration demand following a period of reduced acceleration demand.
HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM
A vehicle includes an engine, a motor, and a controller. The engine and motor are each configured to deliver torque to a torque converter impeller. The controller is programmed to, responsive to a demanded impeller torque exceeding an upper motor torque threshold while the motor alone is delivering torque to the impeller, increase motor torque to a value that is less than the threshold and that depends on a torque converter bypass clutch torque capacity and a torque converter turbine speed.
Apparatus and Method for Delivering Power in a Hybrid Vehicle
A method and apparatus for delivering power to a hybrid vehicle is disclosed. The apparatus includes an apparatus for delivering power to a hybrid vehicle, the hybrid vehicle including a powertrain having a power take-off coupling, the powertrain including an engine and a transmission. The apparatus includes an electric motor operable to generate a torque, the motor being coupled to transmit a starting torque through the power take-off of the powertrain for starting the engine.
Driving system for vehicle
In a vehicle that includes an engine including a starter, an automatic transmission unit having an input shaft coupled to an output shaft of the engine via a first clutch, and a motor generator (hereinafter, referred to as MG) coupled to the input shaft of the automatic transmission unit via a second clutch, an electronic control unit starts up the engine with the use of the starter in a state where the MG is disconnected from the engine by releasing at least one of the first clutch or the second clutch when an IG-on operation has been made in an IG-off state (a state where the vehicle is stopped in a P range) and a power control unit that supplies electric power to the MG has a failure.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SUPPLYING POWER IN A HYBRID VEHICLE USING CAPACITORS, A BATTERY AND ONE OR MORE DC/DC CONVERTERS
A power management system for a hybrid vehicle including an engine includes a vehicle power bus distributing power from a battery to vehicle loads. A capacitor includes one of a plurality of supercapacitors and a plurality of ultracapacitors. A starter/generator controller communicates with the capacitor and the battery. A power management module is configured to supply current from the capacitor to the starter/generator controller during cranking of the engine; and supply current from the battery to the starter/generator controller during the cranking of the engine. The power supplied by the battery is greater than or equal to 2% and less than or equal to 20% of a total power supplied to the starter/generator controller during the cranking of the engine.
Control system for hybrid vehicle
A control system for a hybrid vehicle configured to promptly disengage a clutch for halting an engine is provided. A clutch device comprises a reciprocating member having tapered reciprocating teeth, and a rotary member having tapered teeth opposed to the tapered rotary teeth. A controller is configured to turn off an actuator to eliminate the electromagnetic attraction thereby allowing the engine to be started, and to apply a torque of the first motor to the clutch device after the actuator is turned off thereby disengaging the reciprocating teeth from the rotary teeth.
