INFRARED-LIGHT-TRANSMITTING INK OF DARK COLOR, AND INFRARED-LIGHT-REFLECTING SHEET OBTAINED USING SAME
In order to satisfy the demand of consumers regarding design attractiveness, an infrared-light-transmitting dark color ink is provided, the ink having a black appearance and attaining high design attractiveness and, despite this, having sufficient infrared-light-transmitting property. The infrared-light-transmitting dark color ink transmits near infrared light having wavelengths of 750-1,500 nm, and comprises a resin component and a pigment component that comprises both a brown pigment, e.g., a benzimidazolone pigment, and a phthalocyanine pigment.
NANOCOMPOSITE FORMULATIONS FOR OPTICAL APPLICATIONS
The present disclosure provides a high refractive index acrylic formulation embedded with sub-10 nm metal oxide nanocrystals. The formulation is ideal for high refractive index, high transparency coating for a variety of optical applications including OLED lighting.
Infrared reflective coating composition
Provided is an infrared-reflective coating composition that includes: a scale-like infrared-reflective pigment; and a resin component, wherein the pigment includes a layered body that has dielectric layers and a metal thin film layer layered in an alternate fashion with the dielectric layer on the outermost layer; the dielectric layer is formed from one or more materials such as titanium dioxide; the metal thin film layer is formed from a silver compound; a film thickness of the metal thin film layer is 5 to 15 nm; a film thickness of the dielectric layer is ((Nλ)/(4r))±20 nm (N=1, 2 or 3) wherein wavelength λ of incident light is 250 to 980 nm, and r is a refractive index of the dielectric layer; and a proportion of the infrared-reflective pigment having a particle diameter of 1 μm or smaller is 10% by volume or smaller.
Solar reflective coating composition
A solar reflective coating composition includes: a film-forming resin; a plurality of near-IR transparent pigments dispersed in the film-forming resin, the plurality of near-IR transparent pigments including a first perylene pigment and a second perylene pigment different from the first perylene pigment; and a near-IR reflective pigment dispersed in the film-forming resin, the near-IR reflective pigment different from the first perylene pigment and the second perylene pigment. When formed into a cured coating over a substrate, the cured coating exhibits an off-white or grey color. The solar reflective coating composition is substantially free of carbon black. The present invention is also directed to a substrate having a surface at least partially coated with a solar reflective coating composition and a method of preparing a low weight aerospace component.
Infrared Fluorescent Coatings
The present invention provides for a composition comprising a pigment, wherein the composition is suitable for coating a surface that is, or is expected to be, exposed to the sun. The pigment comprises particles that fluoresce in sunlight, thereby remaining cooler in the sun than coatings pigmented with non-fluorescent particles. The particles comprise solids that fluoresce or glow in the visible or near infrared (NIR) spectra, or that fluoresce when doped. Suitable dopants include, but are not limited to, ions of rare earths and transition metals. A coating composition includes: (i) a film-forming resin; (ii) an infrared reflective pigment; and (iii) an infrared fluorescent pigment different from the infrared reflective pigment. When the coating composition is cured to form a coating and exposed to radiation comprising fluorescence-exciting radiation, the coating has a greater effective solar reflectance (ESR) compared to the same coating exposed to the radiation comprising fluorescence-exciting radiation except without the infrared fluorescent pigment. A multi-layer coating including the coating composition, and a substrate at least partially coated with the coating composition is also disclosed. A method of reducing temperature of an article includes applying the coating composition to at least a portion of the article.
