A system and method for measuring motion properties of a movable object, such as a sporting device, wherein the movable object has an embedded magnetized unit creating a magnetic field. A measurement device, having a first magnetic field sensor positioned a known distance away from a second magnetic field sensor, is positioned in the vicinity of the movable object's trajectory, whereby the first and second magnetic field sensors output signals when the movable object passes within their respective proximities. A control module, that is responsive to the output signals created by the magnetic field sensors, is configured to record the times of output signal events. The control module is further configured to calculate motion properties, such as the speed and rate of spin, of the movable object based upon the recorded times of various sensor output events and the known distance between the first and second magnetic field sensors.

A device has a lightweight inner bladder and an outer layer that covers the inner bladder. The inner bladder bunches up, crunches, becomes pleated, folded or the like against the inner surface of the outer layer. The bunched up surface of the inner bladder may be flattened and/or reconfigured upon impact, thereby absorbing energy. The bunched up inner bladder may create an uneven surface on the outer layer thereby altering the manner through which the device travels through the air. A sports performance sensor for an implement used in sports, such as a bat or baseball. The implement, e.g. the bat or baseball, is formed with an area inside that can include circuitry. The circuitry can measure rotation acceleration, and speed. The outer surface of this device has pressure sensing fabric, which senses location and pressure on the outer surface. This can form a pressure map of where the user's fingers are touching the outer surface. The information from the user's performance in using the device are transmitted to an external computer such as a phone which creates a pressure sensing map. This pressure sensing map can then be compared to data from either the same user at a different time or from other users. This can be specific to different actions, for example it can be specific to the user throwing a specific kind of pitch, or the user carrying out a specific operation such as swinging a bat to hit a specific kind of pitch.

A training/practice/amusement projectile comprises a ball with optimal baffling and rebounding characteristics for play and training of hand-eye coordination and motor skills. The ball generally includes a combination of bounce and baffling elements. In one embodiment the bounce and baffling elements respectively comprise densely packed loops of filament, and individual filament strands of lesser density, both radiating from a core of the ball. A novel method of fabrication includes winding wider and narrower loops of filament, bundling same together at a cinched core, and then cutting the wider loops to form the strands radiating outward inched core to impart a generally spherical outer shape to the ball.

A system and method for playing a pin based game with an impact resistant ball and process of forming an impact resistant ball are provided. The impact resistant ball also has utility to afford a larger segment of the population the ability to properly grip and throw the impact resistant ball by providing an increased length gripper able to accommodate a greater range of hand sizes. The impact resistant ball has further utility to automatically identify and transmit data including the impact of the ball with the game pins and ball metrics including speed, pressure and weight.
