COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR INHIBITING BIOFILM DEPOSITION AND PRODUCTION
The invention provides a method for combating biofilm, said method comprising contacting a biofilm with a composition comprising effective amounts of one or more biofilm degrading enzymes in combination with antimicrobial agents or antimicrobial essential oils. The biofilm may be on an animate or inanimate surface and both medical and non-medical uses and methods are provided. In a preferred aspect the invention provides a composition and method for use in the treatment or prevention of a biofilm infection in a subject, particularly in the oral cavity.
MANNOSE-BINDING LECTIN FOR TREATMENT OR PROPHYLAXIS OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES
The present invention is, inter alia, directed towards mannose-binding lectin and compositions comprising mannose-binding lectin for use in treatment or prophylaxis, towards compositions comprising mannose-binding lectin and towards the use of mannose-binding lectin and said compositions. Mannose-binding lectin, or portions thereof are applied locally according to the invention. MBL is binding to a pathogen to prevent it from binding to a host cell by blocking the binding sites of the pathogen. As a result, infection or transmission of disease can be avoided.
Soft oral product
An oral product includes a body that is wholly receivable in an oral cavity. The body includes a polymer matrix and one or more flavorants and/or active ingredients embedded in the polymer matrix. The polymer matrix can include a copolymer of ethylene and one or more vinyl monomers or zein. For example, the polymer can be ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and/or ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer. In some cases, the oral product can include tobacco and/or nicotine.

CANNABINOID CHEWING GUM WITH SUGAR ALCOHOLS
The present invention relates to a chewing gum for mucosal delivery of cannabinoids, the chewing gum including water-soluble chewing gum ingredients and water-insoluble gum base, wherein the gum base has one or more natural resins in an amount of 10-40% by weight of the gum base, one or more elastomers in an amount of 3-30% by weight of the gum base, and one or more elastomer plasticizers in an amount of 8-50% by weight of the gum base, and wherein the water-soluble chewing gum ingredients include one or more sugar alcohols in an amount of 35-80% by weight of the chewing gum, and wherein the chewing gum has one or more cannabinoids.
COMBINATION TABLET WITH CHEWABLE OUTER LAYER
A pharmaceutical composition in the form of a combination tablet is described. The tablet has a rapidly absorbed component that enters the circulation by traversing the buccal mucosa, oral mucosa and combinations thereof, and a more slowly absorbed component that is swallowed. The therapeutic agent in the swallowed portion is absorbed across the gastric mucosa. The combination tablet may be modified, by varying the specific combinations of excipients, fillers, and the like to effect distinct release rates. In addition, the rapid and slow components may have identical or different therapeutic agents depending on the application to a specific medical condition. One embodiment of the combination tablet includes a prostaglandin inhibitor in the rapidly absorbed component in order to mitigate the side effects of immediate release niacin that is in the slow absorbing component. Such combination compositions will increase patient compliance with various dosing regimens due to the resultant decrease in the number of tablets that a patient would need to take on a daily basis.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MEDICATED CHEWING GUM WITHOUT COOLING
An improved method for manufacture of chewing gums containing active ingredient(s) that preserves the efficacy of the active ingredient(s) by avoiding exposure to high heat and extreme cold during milling that can otherwise degrade the active's efficacy. A chewing gum base is used, along with one or more therapeutically-active ingredients, one or more sweeteners (alcohol-based and/or natural), and one or more flavorings and optional flavor modifiers. The method generally comprises heating the gum base in ovens to melt the gum base. Separately, the active ingredient(s), sweeteners and flavorings are combined in a mixer. The melted gum base is added to the mixer and cools to produce a particulate mixture. As mixing continues the mass cools to room temperature and forms granular pieces. The granular pieces are ground into a powder at room temperature, mixed at room temperature with tableting excipients, and tableted. Several variations on the foregoing are also described.
A CHEWABLE TABLET AND METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME
The present disclosure provides chewable tablets comprising (i) a compressed core including a bioactive molecule; (ii) a protective layer over said compressed core, and (iii) one or more soft-coating layers over said protective layer, each soft coating layer comprises gum base powder; wherein the protective layer comprises water-insoluble cellulose based polymers, preferably ethyl cellulose based polymer.
