Mixture of polymers, lubricating fluid and porous materials comprising said mixture, and surface bearing said mixture
A mixture of polymers with lubricating properties is provided. The polymer can be used to produce a lubricating fluid. They can also be born on a surface or embedded in a porous material. This mixture of polymers comprises (a) a pharmaceutically acceptable bottle-brush polymer comprising a backbone with polymeric pendant chains, and (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable linear polymer. In the lubricating fluid, the bottle-brush polymer and the linear polymer are dissolved together in a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent.
Cross-Linkable Polymer, Hydrogel, and Method of Preparation Thereof
The invention relates to a cross-linkable polymer including a base polymer including functional groups at least some of which have been reacted with a first organic molecule including a cross-linkable unit and with a second organic molecule capable of bonding to organic and/or inorganic substrates. The invention further relates to a hydrogel including the cross-linkable polymer that includes cross-linkable polymer strands, wherein at least some of the cross-linkable units of different cross-linkable polymer strands have reacted to form a covalent bond thereby forming a covalently linked network. The invention further relates to a method for the preparation of the hydrogel and to the use of the hydrogel.
Chlorinated derivative of hyaluronic acid, method of preparation thereof, a composition containing the derivative, and use thereof
A chlorinated derivative of hyaluronic acid or of a modified hyaluronic acid (chloramide) is provided. The chloramide has an amidic group (—NH—CO—). The hydrogen of the amidic group is substituted by a chlorine atom, according to the structural formula —NCl—CO—. The substitution degree of the hyaluronic acid or of the modified hyaluronic acid by chlorine is in an amount of from 50 to 100 %.
Composition comprising an iodide and a derivative of hyaluronic acid with an oxidative effect, method of preparation thereof and use thereof
An antimicrobial composition is provided. The composition comprises a chloramid of hyaluronic acid or of modified hyaluronic acid. The chloramid has an amidic group (—NH—CO—). The hydrogens of the amidic group are substituted by chlorine atoms according to the structural formula —NCl—CO—. The composition further comprises an iodide. The substitution degree of the hyaluronic acid or of the modified hyaluronic acid by chlorine is in an amount of from 50% to 100%.
Chitosan-derivative compounds and methods of controlling microbial populations
The present invention is directed to chitosan-derivative compounds and structures, methods of making chitosan-derivative compounds and methods for controlling, inhibiting and enhancing microbial populations in a variety of environments. The present invention is also directed to the control, inhibition and enhancement of microbial populations in animals, particularly humans. The microbial populations include bacteria, viruses and other pathogens where control of microbial populations are a necessity. The chitosan-derivative compounds of the present invention include chitosan-arginine compounds, related chitosan-L/D unnatural amino acid compounds, chitosan-acid amine compounds, chitosan-L/D natural amino acid derivative compounds, co-derivatives of the chitosan-derivative compounds, salts of the chitosan derivative compounds, and chitosan-guanidine compounds.
Release system of hydrophobic proteins
The object of the present invention is novel release systems comprising specific hyaluronic acid amides combined with therapeutically and/or biologically active proteins with a mainly hydrophobic nature, for sustained, slow release over time which increases the efficacy of the medicament and the patient's compliance.
MODIFIED HYALURONIC ACID POLYMER COMPOSITIONS AND RELATED METHODS
The present application provides compositions comprising hyaluronic acid having low levels of functional group modification, mixtures formed by controlled reaction of such lightly modified hyaluronic acid with suitable difunctional or multi-functional crosslinkers, and hydrogel precursor compositions and the resulting hydrogels. The compositions are lightly cross-linked and possess low pro-inflammatory properties when injected in vivo, and can be used as, for example, medical devices, biomedical adhesives and sealants, and for localized delivery of bioactive agents, among other uses.
AMINE FUNCTIONALIZED CHITIN FOR REMOVING MUNITIONS COMPOUNDS FROM SOLUTION
The invention is a renewable adsorbent material, amine-functionalized chitin (AFC) that can remove the following munitions compounds from solution while providing a concentration-dependent color change: NTO, DNAN, and TNT. Adsorption of the munitions constituents can be adjusted by pH; neutral pH provides maximum adsorption. NTO can desorb from the AFC at pH levels of 2 and 12; DNAN and TNT remain attached to AFC once adsorbed.
Method for manufacturing pulverized material and vibrating pulverizer
A particle diameter of a raw material to be pulverized can be decreased within a short time period. A vibration mill includes a container having therein a columnar space with a central axis of the columnar space being almost horizontal while the container is held so as to be vibratable in a direction of within a plane that is almost perpendicular to the central axis, a cylindrical medium disposed in the container so as to be vibratable, and a plurality of pulverizing media disposed inside the cylindrical medium so as to be vibratable. The ratio of an inner diameter of the cylindrical medium in contact with the pulverizing medium to an outer diameter of the pulverizing medium is 2.1 or more. The integrated value of volumes of the pulverizing media relative to a space volume inside the cylindrical medium in contact with the pulverizing medium is more than 25%.
Moisturizing compositions and uses thereof
Embodiments herein are directed to moisturizing compositions comprising interpenetrating polymer networks, methods of making moisturizing compositions and methods of using moisturizing compositions.
