SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CHARGING AND WARMING VEHICLE COMPONENTS
A system includes an on-board charger that receives energy from an external power source and a battery having a state of charge (SOC) and a battery temperature. The system also includes a battery heater that converts electrical energy into thermal energy (heat) for increasing the battery temperature. The system also includes a battery management system (BMS) that determines or detects a current SOC of the battery and a current battery temperature. The system also includes an electronic control unit (ECU) coupled to the on-board charger and to the BMS. The ECU controls the on-board charger to distribute energy to the battery and to the battery heater to cause the SOC to remain above a SOC threshold and to cause the battery temperature to remain above a battery temperature threshold based on the current SOC and the current battery temperature.
Automatic tire pressurizing system and method
A system is disclosed included but not limited to a wheel having a wheel pressure chamber; a tire having a tire pressure chamber, wherein the tire is mounted on the wheel; a tire pressure sensor inside of the tire pressure chamber for measuring a tire air pressure inside of the tire pressure chamber; a wheel outlet valve between the wheel pressure chamber and the tire pressure chamber; a processor that reads a measure of the pressure inside of the tire pressure chamber from the tire pressure sensor and controls the wheel outlet valve to allow gas from the wheel pressure chamber to flow into the tire pressure chamber to increase the pressure in the tire pressure chamber when the tire pressure is less than a reference tire pressure. A method is provided for using the system.
Method of diagnosing a temperature sensor provided at a rear stage of an air filter
A method of diagnosing a temperature sensor provided at a rear stage of an air filter includes: comparing a heating condition factor with a factor threshold; when the heating condition factor is less than the factor threshold, calculating a deviation between a temperature of an intake manifold and a temperature of intake air at a rear stage of an air filter; comparing a temperature threshold with the deviation; and, when the deviation exceeds the temperature threshold, diagnosing the intake air temperature sensor provided at the rear stage of the air filter as failing. According to the method, failure of a temperature sensor provided at a rear state of an air filter of an engine room can be diagnosed.

Clutch temperature management in a slip control method and arrangement for a drivetrain including a continuously variable transmission
Clutch temperature management in a slip control method and arrangement for a drivetrain including a continuously variable transmission is described herein. The drivetrain includes a clutch that is so controlled as to slip when a torque higher than the usable torque attempts to pass through. The temperature data from the clutch is used to determine the usable torque. Accordingly, the clutch prevents the prime mover from stalling.
