NETWORK ISOLATION
One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for network isolation. For example, nodes within a mesh of devices may be configured with routing rules, main routing tables, and alternative routing tables, such as at a layer-3 network layer. The routing rules may specify that packets received from downstream are to be routed upstream to either a gateway or a backhaul device for evaluation as to whether such packets are allowed to be communicated back downstream to destination recipients using main routing tables. An isolation rule may be configured to specify whether to block or allow packets. In an example, the gateway may either block or allow packets based upon whether a source and destination are within a same virtual local area network or are within different virtual local area networks. In this way, selective device isolation may be provided, such as at the layer-3 network layer.
MULTICAST FAST REROUTE AT ACCESS DEVICES WITH CONTROLLER IMPLEMENTED MULTICAST CONTROL PLANE
In one embodiment, a method includes computing at a controller, a primary path and a backup path for transmittal of multicast data from service nodes in communication with the controller and a multicast source to access nodes in communication with multicast receivers, and transmitting from the controller, information for the primary path and the backup path to the access nodes for use by the access nodes in receiving the multicast data on the primary path and the backup path, and switching transmittal of the multicast data to the multicast receivers from the primary path to the backup path upon identifying a failure in the primary path to provide fast reroute at the access nodes. A multicast control plane runs in the controller without operating in the access nodes. An apparatus is also disclosed herein.
ENABLING SPLIT SESSIONS ACROSS HYBRID PUBLIC SAFETY AND LTE NETWORKS
A special data splitter and data combiner is shown for low latency emergency and data intensive services so that multiple broadband and wireless networks can be utilized along with public safety networks. Any data session, multimedia or non-multimedia, is split into multiple packet streams with each stream having an identifier wherein some packet streams are sent via the secure public safety network and other streams are sent via other networks of varying characteristics and performance, and a combiner at the other end receiving multiple streams from different networks combines them into a single session.
System and method for message routing in a network
A transmitting end-point computes a current transmission rate for each respective outbound half-route of outbound half-routes of a route set between transmitting and receiving end-points. The transmitting end-point receives, from the receiving end-point via a respective inbound half-route of the route set, a transmission rate limit for each respective outbound half-route, the transmission rate limit computed by the receiving end-point from routing headers of messages received by the receiving end-point on the respective outbound half-route, wherein the transmission rate limit for each respective outbound half-route places an upper bound on the current transmission rate for transmissions issued on the respective outbound half-route.
P2MP traffic protection in MPLS-TP ring topology
In a connection-oriented network a point-to-multipoint working path is established between a source node and a plurality of destination nodes using a number of working path intermediate nodes. A point-to-multipoint protection path is established for possible points of failure in the working path. Each protection path connects a first working path intermediate node upstream of a point of failure and destination nodes of the working path downstream of the first working path intermediate node. The point-to-multipoint protection path only connects to destination nodes of the working path and working path intermediate nodes which must be transited to reach the destination nodes of the working path.
Method of measuring integrity of wireless signalling systems
A method of measuring system integrity and robustness to link failure for use with a wireless signaling system is described. The measuring system can calculate the number of unique communication routs available for message transfer between an initiating device and a target device wherein unique routes are non-converging and defined by message source and signal strength data derived from a plurality of system devices.
Heuristic spanning method and system for link state routing
A system and method for selecting at least one relay in a communication network; the network comprises a plurality of nodes; each of the nodes comprises at least one processing unit; each pair of the nodes is characterized by a first connection number; a first score is associated with each pair of (i) first first connection number; and (ii) second first connection number; each of the processing unit is programmed to execute the method.
Systems and methods for improved fault tolerance in solicited information handling systems
An information handling system is provided that uses an overlay network controller to improve fault tolerance and minimize downtime in a solicited system. The network controller may determine standby paths for the solicited communications path and reroute communications to one of the standby paths when a fault is detected in the communications path.
In-band recovery mechanism for I/O modules in a data storage system
Technology is disclosed for recovering I/O modules in a storage system using in-band alternate control path (ACP) architecture (“the technology”). The technology enables a storage server to transmit control commands, e.g., for recovering an I/O module, to the I/O module over a data path that is typically used to transmit data commands. The control commands are typically transmitted using ACP that is separate from the data path. By enabling transmission of control commands over the data path, the technology eliminates the need for separate medium for ACP, at least in part, to transmit the control commands. The technology can be implemented in a pure in-band ACP mode, which supports recovering an I/O module of a storage shelf in which at least one I/O module is responsive, and/or in a mixed in-band ACP mode, which supports recovery of I/O modules of a storage shelf in which all I/O modules are non-responsive.
Overload functionality in overlay networks
In general, techniques are generally described for reducing or preventing transient black-holing of network traffic in an overlay network. A method includes executing, by a network device included in a link state domain, an Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) to exchange link-state messages with at least one remote network device in the link-state domain; generating, by the network device, an IGP link-state message that includes link overload information to overload a link in the link-state domain that couples the network device to the remote network device; and sending, by the network device and to the at least one other network device, the IGP link-state message that includes the link overload information to direct the remote network device to stop sending network traffic to the network device using the overloaded link.
