20180012051 · 2018-01-11 ·

A computer can comprise a housing, a microprocessor disposed within the housing, a display, and a communication interface communicatively coupled to the microprocessor. The computer can be configured, responsive to locating decodable indicia within content viewable on the display, to decode the decodable indicia to produce at least one decoded message. The computer can be further configured to display the content with decoded message data being embedded into the content. The decoded message data can be provided by at least one decoded message, data derived from the decoded message.

USE OF PREDEFINED BLOCK POINTERS TO REDUCE DUPLICATE STORAGE OF CERTAIN DATA IN A STORAGE SUBSYSTEM OF A STORAGE SERVER
20180011657 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A method and system for eliminating the redundant allocation and deallocation of special data on disk, wherein the redundant allocation and deallocation of special data on disk is eliminated by providing an innovate technique for specially allocating special data of a storage system. Specially allocated data is data that is pre-allocated on disk and stored in memory of the storage system. “Special data” may include any pre-decided data, one or more portions of data that exceed a pre-defined sharing threshold, and/or one or more portions of data that have been identified by a user as special. For example, in some embodiments, a zero-filled data block is specially allocated by a storage system. As another example, in some embodiments, a data block whose contents correspond to a particular type document header is specially allocated.

TRANSCODING AND SERVING RESOURCES
20180011935 · 2018-01-11 ·

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for transcoding and providing resources. A query is received. A resource is generated, and the resource, when processed by a client device, causes the client device to perform various operations. The operations include displaying a search result having an associated landing page and detecting user interaction with the search result. The operations include, in response to detecting user interaction with the search result, displaying a first portion of the landing page that is embedded within the resource and requesting, over a network, a second portion of the landing page. The operations include receiving the second portion of the landing page, and loading the second portion of the landing page. The generated resource is provided in response to the query.

PERSONALIZED DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS

This disclosure relates to systems and methods for managing data associated with a user using a personalized cloud storage platform operating as a centralized repository for user data generated from a variety of sources and/or user devices. By centralizing the storage and/or management of personal data that would conventionally be confined between multiple information silos, embodiments of the systems and methods disclosed herein may improve the ability of a user to control their personal data, facilitate utilization of their personal data in a variety of ways not offered by services associated with the silos, and/or allow a user to centrally manage their personal data. Further embodiments disclosed herein allow a user to define one or more policies or other rules associated with personal data stored in their personal cloud.

APPARATUS, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING LOCATION INFORMATION
20180011888 · 2018-01-11 ·

The disclosed apparatus, systems, and methods relate to a location query mechanism that can efficiently determine whether a target entity is located within a region of interest (ROI). At a high level, the location query mechanism can be configured to represent a ROI using one or more polygons. The location query mechanism can, in turn, divide (e.g., tessellate) the one or more polygons into sub-polygons. Subsequently, the location query mechanism can use the sub-polygons to build an index system that can efficiently determine whether a particular location is within any of the sub-polygons. Therefore, when a computing device queries whether a particular location is within the region of interest, the location query mechanism can use the index system to determine whether the particular location is within any of the sub-polygons.

THIRD PARTY FILES IN AN ON-DEMAND DATABASE SERVICE
20180011883 · 2018-01-11 ·

Disclosed are methods, apparatus, systems, and computer readable storage media for providing a reference to a content object in a user interface using an on-demand database service. A computing device can receive data regarding identification of a content object, where the content object is stored in a data repository external to the on-demand database service. The data regarding the content object can be stored in a persistent object in a database of the on-demand database service. A reference can be provided representing the persistent object to a display device operable to display the reference in a user interface when the display device accesses the on-demand database service. One or more graphical representations can be exposed regarding the content object for display in the user interface by the display device, where the exposed graphical representations depend at least in part on the data repository.

PARALLEL PROCESSING DATABASE SYSTEM

A method and system for executing database queries in parallel using a shared metadata store. The metadata store may reside on a master node, where the master node is the root node in a tree. The master node may distribute query plans and query metadata to other nodes in the cluster. These additional nodes may request additional metadata from each other or the master nodes as necessary.

Computing Resource Inventory System
20180011740 · 2018-01-11 ·

Systems and methods of managing computing resources of a computing system are described. A computing resource list and computing resource information may be stored at a data store. The computing resource list may identify a set of computing resources of a computing system, and the computing resource information may respectively describe the computing resources. The computing resource list may be updated in response to a new computing resource being added to the computing system or in response to an existing computing resource being removed from the computing system. Evaluation tasks for the computing resources may be performed, and a resource evaluation report may be generated during performance of at least one of the evaluation reports.

PERFORMING DATA MINING OPERATIONS WITHIN A COLUMNAR DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Data mining operations are performed within a columnar database management system. The columnar database management system stores input sets of data for a data mining operation. An input set of data is represented as a column of data in the columnar database management system. The columnar database management system stores instructions to perform one or more data mining operations for processing the input sets of data. The columnar database management system receives requests for performing data mining operations and performs the processing of the data mining operation within the columnar database management system. As a result, the processing of data mining operations is performed without requiring multiple data transfers between an application implementing the data mining operations and the columnar database management system.

URL SHORTENING COMPUTER-PROCESSED PLATFORM FOR PROCESSING INTERNET TRAFFIC
20180011942 · 2018-01-11 ·

A method and system is provided for URL shortening application that allows content publishers to process and monetize traffic through advertising-related data established via a computer network. A computer system may be configured to produce advertisement before redirecting to the destination page. Using certain processing techniques, publishers and related entities may be credited values by the computer system to determine advertisement revenue. Using specialized algorithms, the computer system is optimized to operate more efficiently in processing such data. Because the shortened link is text based, it can also be advantageously configured to be shared on any social media, website, email, text messaging, or other mediums. Advertisements may be displayed any time a shortened link is clicked, so connections with social followers can be achieved through more personal interactions, which are proven to increase click-throughs.
