SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENSURING CONTINUED ACCESS TO MEDIA OF A PLAYLIST DESPITE GEOGRAPHIC CONTENT RESTRICTIONS

Systems and methods are described herein for detecting information that indicates that a user will be traveling from a first geographic location to a second geographic location, and responsively accessing a playlist indicated by a profile of the user that indicates a plurality of streaming media that the user intends to consume. Control circuitry may then compare data corresponding to each streaming media of the plurality of streaming media to a database to determine whether each streaming media of the plurality of streaming media is accessible to the user at the second geographic location, and may determine that a subset of the plurality of media is not accessible to the user at the second geographic location. In response to determining that the subset is not accessible to the user at the second geographic location, the control circuitry may download each media of the subset.

COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL RECOVERY SYSTEM AND METHOD
20180007729 · 2018-01-04 ·

A wireless communication recovery method and a corresponding communication device are described. In the wireless communication recovery method, a connection failure of a radio access technology (RAT) is detected. Further, the detected connection failure is categorized based on a network level at which the connection failure has occurred. The RAT at the corresponding network level is then disabled for a time period based on the categorization of the connection failure and service in the RAT is recovered based on thresholds for the categorized failure levels.

DATA CENTER RESELECTION

An initial data center is selected to host the online conference. This data center can be selected based on the locations of the participants, a weighting (or ‘priority’) of the participants, or a combination of the two (e.g., locations that are weighted by the participant's priority.) Typically, the data center closest to the centroid (i.e., geometric center, or ‘center of mass’) of the participants is selected. In anticipation that participants will join and/or leaver the conference, a list is calculated that each possible change to a respective data center that will be selected if that change occurs. This list may be distributed to the data centers that, if selected, would host the online conference.

CALENDAR EVENT SCHEDULING FROM EMAIL
20180004398 · 2018-01-04 ·

An electronic mail (email) system generates an email user interface display, that allows the user to enter message content. A context-sensitive calendar preview can be triggered and displayed on the email user interface display. The email system detects a user drag and drop input dragging at least a portion of the message content onto the calendar preview, and automatically generates a calendar event based upon the detected drag and drop input, and the particular portion of the message content dragged onto the context-sensitive calendar preview.

Data Plane API in a Distributed Computing Network

Embodiments are directed to a distributed computing system comprising a plurality of compute nodes for providing resources to users and a hierarchy of two or more layers of controllers coupling the compute nodes to a user interface via a control plane, wherein at least one compute node receives a local application program interface (API) call from an application running on the at least compute node, the local API call causing the at least one compute node to configure a local resource without requiring commands from the control plane.

FOG ENABLED TELEMETRY EMBEDDED IN REAL TIME MULTIMEDIA APPLICATIONS

Disclosed are systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for fog enabled telemetry in real time multimedia applications. An edge computing device can receive first sensor data from at least a first sensor and a collaboration data stream from a first client device. The collaboration data stream can including at least one of chat, audio or video data. The edge computing device can convert the first sensor data into a collaboration data stream format, yielding a first converted sensor data, and then embed the first converted sensor data into the collaboration data stream, yielding an embedded collaboration data stream. The edge computing device can then transmit the embedded collaboration data stream to an intended recipient.

Constraint Based Controlled Seeding

In one example, a peer-to-peer network may use partial seeding to increase the number of seed devices available to a peer device acting as a leeching device. A catalog service may maintain an active peer list for a peer-to-peer network describing active peer devices. The catalog service may track a data file composed of a set of sub-pieces for the peer-to-peer network. The catalog service may identify a device constraint for a peer device of the peer-to-peer network describing a characteristic of the peer device impacting an ability of the peer device to store a sub-piece of the data file. The catalog service may assign a seed sub-piece of the data file based on the device constraint to the peer device when executing a seed client to provide the seed sub-piece to a leeching client on the peer-to-peer network. The catalog service may direct the peer device to retain a persistent sub-piece on the peer device as the seed sub-piece for the peer device until a release event.

REAL-TIME APPLICATION BEHAVIOR CHANGES
20180007118 · 2018-01-04 ·

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for adjusting a behavior of an application in real-time. Telemetry for a client computing device, a server computing device, and a network associated with the application may be received. It may be determined, while the application is running in real-time, whether to adjust the behavior of the application using the received telemetry. In response to determining to adjust the behavior of the application, the behavior of the application may be adjusted based on the received telemetry while the application is running in real-time.

FAULT-TOLERANT VARIABLE REGION REPAVING DURING FIRMWARE OVER THE AIR UPDATE

Variables utilized in device firmware that provides various boot and runtime services are repaved in a fault-tolerant manner within a secure store in a durable, non-volatile device memory during an FOTA update process. A spare region in the secure store is utilized to temporarily hold a back-up of a primary region in which the firmware variables are written. Using a transaction-based fault-tolerant write (FTW) process, the variables in the primary region can be repaved with variables contained in a firmware update payload that is delivered from a remote service. In the event of a fault in the variable region repaving process, either the primary or spare region will remain valid so that firmware in a known good state can be utilized to enable the device to boot successfully and the variable region repaving in the FOTA update process may be restarted.
